The future is already beginning 💡 .... ... and the next generation is already being trained 👨🎓 Last weekend, I attended the MINT 🧬 (german acronym that stands for the fields of Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences, and Engineering ... you may know it as STEM?) "Hands-On Day" in Kreis Gütersloh at the Carl-Miele-Berufskolleg für Technik with my children. The event was designed to introduce children and teenagers to the exciting fields of Mathematics 🧮, Computer Science 🖥️, Natural Sciences 🔬, and Technology 🛠️. Beyond hands-on activities in these disciplines, it also offered valuable insights into internships and apprenticeship opportunities. Ostwestfalen, as a powerhouse of the German economy, was well-represented by numerous renowned companies, providing fantastic opportunities for children to explore various professions through practical and theoretical experiences. At the Reiling Group booth, my daughter had the chance to operate a drill press, while my son soldered his first circuit boards at the Hermann Sewerin GmbH station. Together, they later built a wooden birdhouse at the nobilia-Werke J. Stickling GmbH & Co. KG booth, followed by a metal version at the Wellmann Anlagentechnik GmbH station. My daughter also took part in an engaging 90-minute workshop on creating three-dimensional photos 📸, while my son and I explored other stations showcasing scientific experiments ⚗️. We were particularly fascinated by dynamic chain reactions and intricate scientific setups 😲. As a family passionate about technology, we were especially thrilled to discover that my father (their grandfather) had completed his apprenticeship at this very vocational school. Exploring real models of motor vehicles 🚗 and electric engines was both nostalgic and educational for us. The day concluded with an exciting dive into the virtual world using Meta Quest 3 VR headsets. It was inspiring to see Ina Brandes, NRW's Minister for Culture and Science, attending the event. She engaged with participants and shared encouraging words to inspire the next generation 👏 . A heartfelt thank you 👍 to all the organizers and participating companies for providing children and youth this unique annual opportunity to engage with Mathematics, Computer Science, Natural Sciences, and Technology. Events like this lay the groundwork for nurturing the brilliant minds 💡 of tomorrow ‼️

This sounds like an incredible event! 🤩 Can't wait to see if there's another one next year. Would love to bring my kids from Düsseldorf to Gütersloh for this. #MINT #STEM #FamilyFun #FutureEngineers
