You might be looking forward to Christmas, but the biggest event of the year has already taken place. Our Gala was an evening full of celebrations, congratulations and some seriously dodgy vocals on the Bandeoke. We invited all of our winners from the awards nights in the UK and France into one room to recognise the unbelievable talent we have in our teams. We had plenty of new winners, some unforgettable dance moves, and a magician who blew everyone’s Brewpoint socks off. What a cracking way to finish off the year!

Just had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. Fawn Weaver, the CEO of Uncle Nearest, my favorite whisky here in Nashville at the AMAC Conference. Thanks AMAC. Two key takeaways: 1) Fawn has an incredible background story. 2) If you are a whiskey lover and haven't tried Uncle Nearest yet, you're missing out! Join the club. #Whiskey #UncleNearest #CEO #InspiringStory

What's stopping you from entering your event or your company for an award this season? You worked hard to produce a fantastic event. Now it’s time to get the recognition you deserve; you are ready to enter either the ACE Awards, which are more geared towards caterers, or the Gala Awards, which feature categories for all types of events and producers. Winning an award, and even receiving a nomination, has myriad benefits: * Build team morale within your company and with your creative partners * A nomination and win are tantamount to a third-party endorsement * The write-ups can be repurposed for content for months to come * It looks great in all your promotional material But, for some reason, the deadline comes and goes and so does another year for your chance to win an award. Why? As someone who has written, and judged, many awards over the years, I've addressed some common questions and concerns you might have have about entering awards in this article published today in Catersource. https://lnkd.in/gZP8NZfQ #awards #benefitsofawards #eventprofs

Have you ever wondered what you should say if you have been selected to receive an award, the experts say the following: 1. Express your gratitude and be genuine. Speak from the heart and remember to acknowledge the sponsoring organization as well as any other nominees. 2. Demonstrate why you are deserving of the honor. Keep the self-deprecation to a minimum; don't make them regret selecting you over others. 3. Recognize those who helped you achieve success. Use your moment in the spotlight to pay it forward. Personalize your speech with anecdotes. This is still a speech, after all, so make it memorable and meaningful. 4. Respect the audience and the clock. Not every awards ceremony has an orchestra to play you off the stage when you overstay your welcome.

"..Can we stand for something? Now is the time to face the wind, let love in, together, can we stand? Looka there, liquor in my hand, the grandbaby of a moonshine man.." -American Requiem, Beyonce Knowles-Carter I wonder if Beyonce realizes just how off-guard she caught the entire whiskey industry with the launch of SirDavis. This is a big deal. Celebrities enter the space every day (her husband has been here for over 10 years) and while intentions and quality vary, there's a consistency in the pattern as consistent as the players on the back bar: it's rarely women, and when it is, it's almost never in whiskey (I say almost because that ceiling broke with Big Nose Kate Whiskey's partnership with Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone #humblebrag). In the last 36 hours I've been asked 20, 30 times what my take is on the development and I have something to say. (this one's for you Karen Locke). Beyonce launching an American Whiskey is not good. Beyonce launching an American Whiskey is THE GREATEST VALIDATION OF THE WORK BEING DONE EVERYDAY BY GROUPS AND INDIVIDUALS TO MAKE WHISKEY MORE INCLUSIVE AND REPRESENTATIVE OF TODAY'S INDUSTRY LANDSCAPE. sorry, stuck in caps. Work led by individual champions in the industry like Peggy Noe Stevens, Becky Paskin, Amanda Victoria (Mintz) with pioneers like Hollis B Worth, Rebecca Harris, Tracie Franklin, Allison Parc, Marianne Eaves, Jane Bowie along with groups such as OurWhisky Foundation, Black Bourbon Society, Spirited Women Collective, Bourbon Women and The The Michael James Jackson Foundation for Brewing & Distilling (The MJF); all who advocate for and advance diversity in the whiskey landscape. These voices are loud but have never had an audience of 400 million. I like to think that our collective shouting made an echo; one so loud that Beyonce shouted back. Long live the Queen. ta ta, Mel #WhiskeyIndustry #DiversityAdvocacy #Beyonce #SirDavis #OurWhiskyFoundation #BlackBourbonSociety #TheMJF #LFG #toasttothefutureofwhisky

Let's talk about awards. I'm involved in multiple events that involve awards, and I'm interested to hear what people have to say about their expectations. If you have a minute, please tell me your thoughts on one or all of these (or send me a DM if you'd prefer to keep your thoughts private): Should an award nomination cost money and, if you are okay with a fee, what's reasonable to you? What kind of an event do you expect to have tied to the presentation of the awards? Reception? Gala? What are your expectations for the award itself? Trophy? Plaque? Certificate? Do you still display the industry awards you have won, and if you do, how do you display them? I won't be quoting anyone here on anything. I'm just trying to do a little research courtesy of my colleagues here on LinkedIn.

Thanks for being there and making it wonderful! 😊 As a team manager, award nights are special because we want to make them as memorable as possible for our team. 🏆 Here’s what we do to make it an unforgettable night: Before the Event -Prepare Party Poppers and Flowers: The excitement starts as we pick beautiful flowers and party poppers. 🌸 🎉 (Yes, these items do get sold out, and we face hiccups like the party poppers not getting delivered due to too many being purchased at a go😂) -Hyping for the Event: We create buzz leading up to it with reminders of how significant this event is and recap their focus and positive traits to getting there📢✨ During the Event: -Coordinate the Winners: The team ensures the winners have their big moment on stage. We hand them flowers, shoot the party poppers, and cheer loudly. 🌟👏 we make sure to tell them how proud we are of them. ❤️ Post-Event: -Memorable Highlights: We edit the photos and videos to make a highlight reel for their Instagram and Wechat! 🎥📸 Hearing feedback from the team, like “This was the best award night ever!” and “I felt so appreciated!” makes all the effort worth it. 🥰 To other managers, what else could we have done to make the winners feel memorable and special? 💡

Happy Friday, Black Professionals Ireland! We often celebrate successes, but what about failures? Those moments that tested our resolve, pushed us to grow, and taught us invaluable lessons. Let's talk about that kitchen disaster that turned into life lessons It's Saturday morning. You're attempting a new recipe for a fancy brunch, feeling like the next Masterchef. Fast forward 30 minutes, and your kitchen looks like a war zone, the smoke alarm is blaring, and your "gourmet" meal resembles something from a sci-fi movie. We've all been there, right? But here's the thing, that culinary disaster might just teach you more than any successful meal ever could. Maybe you learned about the importance of "mise en place", or discovered that multitasking isn't always the answer. So, the next time you encounter a roadblock in your career, remember: It's not just about the outcome; it's about the lessons learned. Let's turn those professional "disasters" into culinary triumphs by embracing the learning process. You can share in the comments below a time when a mistake actually led to a breakthrough, and what you learned from it? #BlackProfessionalsIreland #WeekendReflections #FailForward #ProfessionalGrowth #ResilienceInBusiness #LearningFromMistakes

Planning Christmas activities for both staff and the community can take a lot of work alongside day to day business tasks. We started planning a month ago! How do you juggle finding time to prepare for Christmas and ensuring day to day business continues as normal? and the big question is, is it ever too early to start? 🎄 As a big Christmas fan, my answer is no, it’s never too early! But between Christmas social media content, client messages, staff Christmas parties, community/charity support and more… time can escape you very quickly! We like to make sure we have a team involved, rather than it being one person’s responsibility so we can achieve more in a shorter space of time and it remains manageable! P.S Can you spot what they are making? 👀
Our creative team have started Christmas preparations for one of our annual traditions... it's never too early! 🎄
