They are essentially downhole flow control valves located within the production tubing or casing. Sliding sleeves serve multiple purposes in well management. 𝐔𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐬: To isolate and control flow from one or more reservoir zones To regulate pressure between zones To facilitate selective production from multiple zones To enable wellbore cleanout or stimulation operations 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐬 Open/close sleeves: These sleeves can be shifted to either an open or closed position.
