Day #4, Social Media Takeover #thevillagerevivalproject is a discussion about the power of YOU and US 🫱🏽🫲🏼🫱🏾🫲🏿 Did you know that we are the only local reentry program creating art-based, transformative justice healing spaces with returning citizens and their neighbors? Did you know that our approach to #cureviolence is by helping folks improve how they see each other thus cultivating Social Cohesion across the broader community? Social Cohesion is the foundation of a thriving community. It’s about building bridges, fostering trust, and ensuring that everyone feels a sense of belonging. When we come together—despite our differences—we create a tapestry of unity that strengthens us all. It’s about more than just living side by side—it’s about thriving together. When we invest in Social Cohesion, we strengthen the bonds that make us resilient and safe from community harm. The thing is, none of this can be accomplished without YOU, each of you supporting this work in your own special way 👉🏼👇🏼👈🏼👆🏼Mobilizing ambassadors near and far is the special sauce that activates the power of a more connected, compassionate, and harmonious society!!! What can you do? ❣️You can share our message verbally with your circle and on social media! ❣️You can sign up to be an ambassador! ❣️You can offer to volunteer! ❣️You can make a tax-exempt donation! ❣️You can be added to our listserv! ❣️You can forward our emails! ❣️You can host an in person or virtual house party! In times of division, let us remember that we are stronger when we stand together. By fostering understanding and collaboration, we can create a community where every individual has the chance to contribute and succeed. The Village Revival Project hopes you will join us in “reviving the collective heartbeat of the village” because YOU are a critical part of this movement. Yes, you. #thevillagerevivalproject #givingtuesday2024 #socialmediatakeover

💭 I want to give back, but I don't have the resources. If you've ever had this thought, you're not alone. Many of us feel a deep desire to contribute to causes close to our hearts or help our communities grow. But often, the financial aspect makes us question whether we can truly make an impact. Here’s a reminder: giving back isn’t always about money. It’s about intention and action. Some of the most meaningful ways to contribute are actually through our time, knowledge, and skills. ✅ Share your expertise: Mentoring, teaching, or simply sharing your skills can change someone’s life in ways you may not realize. ✅ Volunteer your time: Community events, nonprofit organizations, and local initiatives are often in need of hands-on help. ✅ Be a connector: Connecting people with resources or opportunities you know about can open doors for others. Even the smallest actions can have a ripple effect. The truth is, we all have something valuable to offer. Don’t let financial constraints hold you back from making a difference. 🌍 #GivingBack #CommunityImpact #Volunteer #MakeADifference

As we head into 2025, one thing is crystal clear: community isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a strategy. For nonprofits, community is the secret to transforming casual supporters into passionate advocates, unlocking resources, and driving innovation. But how do we get there? It starts with intentionality. Building community takes heart and hustle, but the returns—deeper engagement, shared advocacy, and collective action—are immeasurable. Here are 3 ways to lean into community this year: 1️⃣ Invest in Collaboration: Think beyond partnerships; think ecosystems. Who are the “weak links” in your network who could open unexpected doors? 2️⃣ Empower Storytelling: Stories inspire action. Help your community members find their voice, and watch how shared experiences strengthen bonds. 3️⃣ Foster Belonging: Community is more than connection; it’s about creating a space where people feel seen, valued, and heard. As we embrace the rising tide of collaboration and connection, let’s remind ourselves: a rising tide lifts all boats. 🌟 💡 Curious about diving deeper? Check out the first Hive article we wrote, which is just as relevant today as when it was published: "How The Concept of a 'Rising Tide' Could Support Nonprofits" https://lnkd.in/gWq9ZiCq How will you lean into community in 2025? Did you know that humans have an innate need to improve their communities? It's called "prosocial behavior," and it’s hardwired into our brains. Studies show that acts of kindness and community involvement not only benefit society but also boost our own happiness and well-being. Interestingly, neighborhoods with higher levels of volunteerism report stronger social cohesion and lower crime rates. It's proof that our instinct to help isn't just beneficial for others but also for creating safer, happier communities. We all care about something. For me, it’s helping others with the intricacies of human happiness and personal growth, building resilience, and supporting underserved communities. But recently, I’ve been asking myself: Am I helping in the most effective way? Or just the most familiar way? It’s easy to stick with what we know, donations, spreading awarness via social media, maybe even volunteering. But what if we took a step back and asked, What more can I bring to this cause? What unique strengths do I have that could drive change in a different way? Maybe you’re an artist who can use your work to raise awareness. Maybe you’re a tech whiz who could offer your skills to help a nonprofit streamline their operations. Or maybe you’re simply someone with a strong network, sharing a cause with the right people can sometimes make all the difference. 𝙃𝙚𝙧𝙚’𝙨 𝙢𝙮 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙮𝙤𝙪: 1. Think of one cause you care about. 2. Brainstorm three ways you can support it that go beyond the “usual.” (You might surprise yourself with the impact you’re able to make) 💬 Feel free to swap ideas in the comments, who knows, you might even inspire someone else to take action! 🔥#thriveinthirty 🔥 Make every day a win and take steps toward a more positive life this Movember ➡️ Follow Brett Thiedeman (BT) for daily motivation, tips, and challenges. Reflections on Giving Back, Compassion, and Changing Times Yesterday, I spent the morning helping the local Rotary Club sell raffle tickets at Bunnings to support youth initiatives and projects. Being the first time, It was an interesting experience that left me reflecting on the nature of generosity, connection, and how times are changing. I noticed that the majority of those who stopped to purchase tickets or make donations were from an older generation. Many shared heartfelt stories of how Rotary had supported them or their loved ones through difficult times. They wanted to give back or “pay it forward” to help others in need. At the same time, I observed that many people walked past the table without a glance—a stark contrast to those who stopped to engage. This made me reflect on how societal priorities and attitudes toward community giving may be shifting, and it’s a reminder of how important it is to foster connection and compassion in our increasingly fast-paced lives. These reflections tie closely to two incredible opportunities I had in 2018-2019: 1. The Churchill Fellowship, where I examined peer support programs to reduce mental health challenges in emergency service volunteers. 2. The NSW Health Judith Meppem Scholarship, where I explored how to grow and sustain compassionate workplace cultures. Both experiences reinforced the importance of creating spaces—whether in the workplace or the broader community—where compassion, kindness, and mutual support can thrive. Whether it’s through volunteering, leadership, or simply taking a moment to connect with someone, I remain committed to growing environments where people feel valued and supported, especially those facing struggle and distress. In a world that often feels more disconnected than ever, I believe taking the time to listen, engage, and give back is one of the most powerful ways we can make a lasting impact. #CompassionateLeadership #Community #Compassion #GivingBack #MentalHealth #ChurchillFellowship #JudithMeppemScholarship #CommunityMatters #Rotary
