🎙My Candidate Interview Is Live I would love to hear your thoughts and input! As a passionate advocate for our schools and a candidate for the Pembroke School Committee, I recently had the opportunity to share my vision and priorities for the future of Pembroke's education with The Local Seen Government Services Here are some highlights! Budget Priorities and Constraints: I firmly believe that budget discussions should begin with the insights of our school building principals. Their direct experience with the needs of our students and teachers is invaluable. I am dedicated to finding creative solutions for funding gaps and prioritize the wellness and safety of our students and staff in all budget decisions. Impact of Decreasing Enrollment: Even as we face declining enrollment, it's crucial to recognize the significant increase in per-pupil funding rates. This underscores the continuous need for increased funding, particularly to support the growing mental health needs of our students. Vocational Schooling and Local Revenue: I propose innovative ideas, such as kayak and canoe rentals and food truck internships, to enhance vocational training opportunities. It's important to me that we seek community feedback on these initiatives. Special Education: With my strong background in special education, I understand the importance of individualized education plans based on comprehensive evaluations. I acknowledge the increasing demand for special education services and am committed to meeting these needs. General Philosophy on Education and Community Involvement: I am a proponent of data-informed decision-making and actively seek community input to ensure our educational priorities meet the evolving needs of our students. My dedication to our community, innovative approach to addressing challenges, and commitment to putting students first make me a strong candidate for the Pembroke School Committee. I believe in supporting a future where every child in Pembroke has the opportunity to thrive. I encourage you to make your voice heard in the upcoming elections. Together, we can make a difference for the future of our children and our community. https://lnkd.in/eyz326pe #KatrinaDelaney #PembrokeSchoolCommittee #EducationForAll #CommunityFirst #PembrokePride

Please take a moment to reflect on the following message: The journey seems daunting. When you receive the news that your child has a condition that may present additional challenges to their growth, it feels like hope is slipping away. Our first instinct is to dive into problem-solving mode. We yearn to support our children in achieving what we perceive as a "normal" life. This roller coaster ride is filled with intense emotions, marked by significant progress and frustrating setbacks. Eventually, a sense of disillusionment creeps in, and you start searching for someone who can assure you that your child will attain the independence they deserve. You long for reassurance that things will get easier. Shepherds College has been a beacon of hope and inspiration for my family. I met a remarkable young woman named Bri. She's not just a friend; she's a living testament to what Abigail can achieve in her life. Beyond the support of her incredible parents, Shepherds College provided Bri with the environment she needed to flourish. Shepherds College is: - Accredited - Equipped to teach three vocational skills - Proven to assist 80% of its graduates in securing employment - Renowned for helping each student attain the appropriate level of independence - The nation's premier institution for educational programs tailored to young adults living with intellectual disabilities. Now, the outlook is one of hope and excitement! Today, with a small contribution to Shepherds, you can make a real difference in the lives of young individuals, empowering them to gain independence and confidence and become thriving contributors to their communities. Today is our chance to give back! Will you join me in making a financial contribution to help more young people seize the same opportunities that Bri has had? The giving link is in the comments! #specialneeds #college #education #independence #give #proof #legacy #leadership #business #investment #contribute #nonprofit

Lisa is right that transition is an important rite of passage, and I find it interesting that schools can do it so differently. With that in mind, what do you like to see on transition day(s)? #inspireminds #learningaswelive
It was with great anticipation that we welcomed our 2025 Year 7s to their first orientation day today. Transition to high school is such an important rite of passage in a young person’s life and we see it as a privilege to lead them on this journey. We look forward to connecting at various points in the year as we welcome so many families into our beautiful community Kingswood College Melbourne. To the class of 2030, we are already so proud of you!!! #year7transition #learnaswelive #education #excellence #courage #perseverance #kindness #respect

Sometimes, when we focus on the (VERY important) big picture, it’s all too easy to lose focus on the many smaller pieces of that picture – and how they all fit together to create something powerful. Today, we’re looking at the true impact of reconciliation in action: the stories of the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis students who are shaping the future of Turtle Island through their educational pursuits. 🧡 One of these students is Myles Olson, a proud Ojibwe and Cree member of Long Plain First Nation. Growing up off-reserve in Vancouver, he and his siblings stayed connected to their culture, firmly rooted in love, thanks to the efforts of his father (a day school survivor) and his mother (a Sixties Scoop survivor). He’s currently supported by our Building Brighter Futures: Bursaries & Scholarships (BBF) program, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in science at the University of British Columbia. His passion for science, instilled in him by his grandmother, has always been a driving force. Myles chose this path to honour his parents, who never had the opportunity to pursue post-secondary education due to the racism they encountered and the lack of support available. By entering this field, he wants to change the landscape, showing other Indigenous students that pursuing higher education is not only possible but essential – and that Indigenous students can thrive in these spaces just as much as anyone else. Today, if you’re interested in learning more about just how powerful #reconciliation through #education can be, click on the link below and create your own way to be part of the big picture. 👇 https://lnkd.in/e8rUngTq #NDTR #OrangeShirtDay #EveryChildMatters #Indigenous #IndigenousPeoples #NationalDayForTruthAndReconciliation
