This eye-opening report highlights just how much recycling performance can vary across the globe, reminding us of the critical role effective waste management policies play in moving towards a circular economy. Here at AkzoNobel, we're proud to be part of the Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI), spreading the word about the endless recyclability of aluminum. In the US, CMI is pushing for a 90% recycling rate for aluminum beverage cans by 2030. Aluminum is a hero in the world of sustainability, capable of being recycled over and over again without losing its quality. Excellent manifesto from Fead Info. In order to have well functioning circular economy we need to have harmonized and enabling regulation for the full chain from waste generation to use of recyclates. Without proper tools to ensure the demand for high quality recycled materials we jeopardize the progess of circular economy and big part of the collection, sorting and recycling will not yield the benefits they could (and should). https://lnkd.in/gisQmNbE

As we face the challenge of low recycling rates in the US, it's clear that empowering consumers is essential to driving meaningful change. Companies have a responsibility to promote sustainability, but consumers play a crucial role in the recycling equation. Scottish Parliament passes landmark Circular Economy Bill The Scottish Parliament has passed its landmark Circular Economy Bill which will give ministers and local authorities north of the border powers to cut waste and drive up recycling and reuse.  Ministers will be able to set local recycling targets as well as set statutory targets for the delivery of a circular economy to measure progress in transforming the economy. They can also restrict the disposal of unsold consumer goods, to prevent good products ending up in landfill, place charges on single-use items like disposable cups to encourage the move to reusable alternatives and give local authorities additional enforcement powers, allowing them to crack down on flytipping and littering. The measures will be underpinned by support and investment, says the Scottish Government, building on the investments made through the £70 million Recycling Improvement Fund. Glasgow-based EGG lighting described the bill as ‘groundbreaking’ and said it is set to revolutionise how we manage waste, promoting reuse and recycling.  In a statement on social media, the company said: ’We are excited to contribute to Scotland's journey towards a circular economy.
