✔️Ghost Ship Fire - 2016 🔥 Lessons from History: The Ghost Ship Fire The Ghost Ship fire in Oakland, California, on December 2, 2016, tragically claimed 36 lives due to a lack of fire safety measures and adherence to regulations. This incident occurred in an unauthorized warehouse used as an art space, underscoring the need for strict oversight in public venues. During the fire, many people were celebrating when flames erupted. The absence of fire alarms and proper emergency exits created a dire situation, preventing many from escaping. This tragedy emphasizes the critical need for rigorous monitoring of public spaces and the implementation of effective safety systems. It also serves as a reminder of the importance of education and awareness in fire safety. Let’s strive to improve safety in our communities and learn from the painful lessons of the past. #FireSafety #CommunityAwareness #EducationMatters

************NATIONAL FIRE PREVENTION WEEK 2024*********** National Fire Prevention Week is celebrated each year during the week of October 9 in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire in 1871. Folklore says that the incident began the night of October 8 in a barn owned by Patrick and Catherine O’Leary. Regardless of the actual cause, the result was devastating damage to the entire city of Chicago. What became of the city after this horrific event? Well ironically, the fire cleared the way for a newer, much improved Chicago. Ten years after the fire, the city population had nearly doubled. Twenty years later, the Windy City was home to over 1 million people and featured the world’s first true skyscrapers. And maybe the most ironic fact is that the site where the O’Leary barn once stood now hosts the training academy of the Chicago Fire Department. Please take Fire Safety and Fire Prevention seriously. Protect yourself and your family by educating yourself and being prepared. #thegreatchicagofire #fireprevention #fireservice #firesafety #firesafetytips #firesafetytraining #smokealarms #fireprotection #residentialhomefires #unattendedcookingfires #stoplossllc #firesupression #preventhefirestoptheloss #nationalfirepreventionweek #nationalfireprventionmonth #stoplossva #stoplossllc

No one ever wants to be in this situation but knowing what to do IF you are and having a blueprint of action makes the idea a little less scary. The scenario based training our team provides is priceless and always focused on increased survivability & lethality wherever you are.
Earlier this month Raven Advisory had the pleasure of working with the staff of Richmond County Hospice at their office location in Rockingham, NC to equip them with how to handle a potential active shooter/intruder. This was a full-scale disaster drill involving Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, Richmond County Emergency Services, 911 Operators, Richmond County Health Department, Richmond County Rescue Squad, and Cordova Fire Rescue. The team at Raven Advisory LLC. provided the instruction and coordination of the education piece and scenario-based training. We equipped the staff with knowledge and a plan so that if something were to happen at their office they know what to do and have practiced drills for various situations. We hope that they never have to go through any of the scenarios we trained for in real life, but if they do they are more equipped to survive than they were before the in depth training. Active shooter trainings are just one of the capabilities Raven Advisory can bring to you at your location. Our goal is to help you learn the skills to survive. #skillstosurvive #activeshootertraining #scenariobasedtraining #skillstosurvive

Today, International Firefighters Day is observed globally. It is an occasion to honor fallen firefighters' memory and promote widespread awareness of fire safety practices among all individuals. Let's pledge to dedicate today to educating our family members. Take the time to instruct your loved ones on properly using portable fire extinguishers and fire blankets. Additionally, ensure that your children are informed about the "stop, drop, and roll" technique, empowering them to assist in the event of someone's clothing catching fire. Lastly, familiarize them with emergency contact numbers, equipping them with essential knowledge in times of need. Remember to install a portable fire extinguisher in your home and car, as well as keep a fire blanket accessible near your kitchen area. These proactive measures can significantly enhance your preparedness for potential fire emergencies. #fire #firefighter #firefighting #firesafety #emergencyresponse #firesafetytips #emergencyresponders #4may #fallenfirefighters

Just some things to ponder — I would agree with comments in this thread; CRR should, ideally, be a part of the Deparment-wide mission and these efforts should include all divisions within the FD as well as other divisions within the jurisdiction (building, planning, public works, etc). CRR can be used as planning tool, safety endeavor, and can augment the community standards of cover data. I admire leaders who embrace these concepts.
🚒 The Importance of Community Risk Reduction Divisions in the Fire Service! I've started working on a new article that highlights the often underappreciated yet critical role of Community Risk Reduction (CRR) divisions within the fire service. Here is the introduction!
