Infants and young children, like Amani and Boni, are most vulnerable to malaria-related mortality. Inequities in education and resources exacerbate the risk, especially for those from the poorest households. Pregnancy also increases susceptibility to malaria, posing risks for women and unborn babies. Refugees, migrants, and Indigenous Peoples face heightened risks in conditions where malaria thrives. On World Malaria Day, let's unite to accelerate the fight against malaria for a more equitable world. Together, we can end discrimination, engage communities, strengthen healthcare, address risk factors, and integrate interventions into universal coverage. In light of yesterday's events, I need to make something clear: I will be voting blue. I have been reading a ton of criticisms against Kamala, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. But here's the thing - - We're running out of time. - Do you want to live in Gilead?? - Is this the moment to get everything you want at the expense of trans/Black/immigrant lives? - Will there be anyone/anything left to fight for if term limits are removed and women no longer have the right to vote? (alarmist? maybe. but feasible if you've read project 2025). - You can be choosy if we survive until 2028. There is virtually no time left and this is a triage situation - trans/nonbinary/Black/immigrant/women's lives hang in the balance. Please choose the folks who support my right to continue breathing. If you hate that person, you can oust them in 4 years. Just let me live long enough to see that day and I'll help you. For many of us, this is no longer about comfort - it's about survival.
