The National Science Foundation (NSF) is spearheading the establishment of regional innovation engines, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) and expanding its financial and operational capacities. In a conversation with Dr. Sethuraman Panchanathan, NSF's director, on the Federal Drive with Tom Temin, the National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource (NAIRR) was highlighted as a pivotal initiative to connect U.S. researchers with vital AI resources, including computational data and software models. This initiative aims to democratize AI access and foster an inclusive, trustworthy U.S. AI ecosystem. The NAIRR, alongside NSF's partnership with over a dozen federal agencies and numerous nongovernmental organizations, seeks to bridge the resource gap in AI research and development. Additionally, NSF's launch of the first new directorate in 31 years, the Technology Innovation Partnerships, and the creation of ten regional innovation engines funded by the CHIPS Act, exemplify its commitment to unleashing innovation and talent across the nation. These efforts, supported by a blend of federal and partnership funding, are poised to generate significant impacts, including job creation, advancement in AI technologies, and the establishment of a competitive, innovative U.S. ecosystem. #nsf #ai #nairr #innovation #technology #research #artificialintelligence #regionalengines #stem #partnerships Source- https://lnkd.in/gcfTiNVD

The Victorian AI Skills and Jobs Symposium at the Cremorne Digital Hub yesterday was phenomenal. The aim of the event was to discuss what is needed to make Victoria a leading #AI player on a global scale. Besides brilliant presentations from Professor Rocky Scopelliti and Siew Lee Seow on Australia’s innovation investment and the need to enhance productivity, the audience had the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops across key priority areas. Our discussion on industry and government #partnerships generated a remarkable range of ideas to encourage AI innovation, share knowledge and drive economic growth. From a mapping tool to showcase AI adoption by local industries to inclusive pathways for capacity building and job creation in the technology sector. At the Monash Data Futures Institute, we have a mission to advance #interdisciplinary AI applications for social good. Events like this symposium are extremely valuable and demonstrate that when we work together, and foster partnerships between academia, industry and government, we can co-develop innovative approaches to make Victoria a global leader in AI. Thanks to AIIA and Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions for hosting this fantastic event as part of Tech Week 2024. #techweekCDH #AIforGood

🚀The current pace of advancements in AI demands a reevaluation of the paper review process. The lengthy timeline from reviewer feedback to publication acceptance can result in presenting outdated work at conferences. Furthermore, the academic community's skepticism towards knowledge from sources like posts on media or arXiv underscores the need for a more robust validation system🧐 I encourage leaders in academia, industry, conference organizing bodies, and committee members to come together for a comprehensive discussion on implementing a swift and efficient paper review pipeline. This collaborative effort is essential to ensure the ongoing validity and credibility of day-to-day state-of-the-art work in AI research, aligning our practices with the rapid evolution of technology💡 🌎Let’s collectively rethink and reform our approach to research publication to create a more dynamic and impactful environment. Please reshare and reply with your suggested solutions for this. #AICommunity #AIResearch #Innovation #AITech #Publications #PaperReview
