**OZO Emena** When there has been bitterness within the village for a long time, a traditionalist would go to the market square and offer a sacrifice to the gods, openly declaring with a loud shout, "Ozo Emena" – gods forbid. I just finished reading the writeup from my brother Ndubuisi Ekekwe on the notion that the PDP tenders apologies. Here is my statement: I prefer to hold onto what is currently valuable rather than chasing empty promises. Our faith lies in the hands of the present government, which has demonstrated valuable and visible innovation. Given the state's promising condition, it's clear the current administration has much to offer, and this first phase is a success. Moving on to the next phase. The PDP should step aside for now; we have a government with a clearer path and vision. "Ozo emena." However, I bear no grudges and apologies accepted. Again Ozo Emena

The Victoria-Saanich Citizens’ Assembly (VSCA) on Municipal Amalgamation is preparing to convene its first of eight meetings. Forty-eight randomly selected residents of Saanich and Victoria will represent all residents of these municipalities on the Assembly, which is tasked with exploring the costs, benefits and disadvantages of amalgamation between the two municipalities and issuing a report to their councils. Much like a jury or task force, the deliberations of a Citizens’ Assembly are generally confidential and closed to the public. However, there are several ways for the public to get involved: ➡️ Make a Public Submission to the Assembly: provide your perspective on the question of amalgamation or raise an issue you would like the Assembly to consider. ➡️ Register for one of the Public Meetings (Nov 20 and 21): learn more about the Assembly’s process and the work of local government, provide your perspective on the issues and learn what your fellow residents think. ➡️ Sign up for Assembly Updates: receive copies of the presentations, reports, meeting summaries and other resources, so you can follow the Assembly’s work. Learn more at victoriasaanich.ca. #citizensassembly #victoria #saanich #VSCA

On March 1st, the UK, which became the first country to formally adopt the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism in 2016, assumed the IHRA Presidency. The UK has more regional, local, and municipal government IHRA adoptions, as well as university adoptions, than any other country. We couldn’t think of a better nation to take on this responsibility in 2024! Learn more about the IHRA definition and read the 2023 report at https://lnkd.in/g85aV7gg

In case you missed it, our Senior Partner Paddy O' Dea recently shared his thoughts on the road ahead for the new FAI CEO, David Courell. 'By proactively engaging with Government officials, the corporate sector, and for example, the increasingly prominent constituency of outspoken League of Ireland managers — with humility, confidence and a clear strategic message — he will help subtly, soften public attitudes to the FAI...' A piece I wrote for the Sunday Independent on the road that lies ahead for the new FAI CEO David Courell.
