#Skilledtrades and #aviationmaintenance are becoming a much more acceptable career option. Most other industries are way ahead of #aviation and #aerospace with #unions paying for training. "The Perception of the Trades report, which polled 25,000 households, reflects growing support for aviation maintenance as a career option and for trade careers generally," wrote Aviation International News. "Overall, 79.5% of respondents indicated that they would recommend #tradejobs for their children or family members, an increase from previous surveys. The findings for aviation maintenance stand out compared to other #skilledtrades, with automotive technician careers receiving just under 46% of “extremely likely” responses." Aviation Technician Education Council reported starting salaries of $65k in its latest report which also said new hires make $120k within five years. Despite this many seats go empty at #AMT schools. Six thousand students!!! 🥹 I’ve been lucky enough to sit down with Harry Boyce when NATS STEM outreach programme, Future Minds was being designed and amazed at his decade long personal efforts to inspire young people. Well check out his post today ⬇️ where Inspiring the Future invited Harry and an easyJet training captain to talk about their careers and promote the roles out there that ANY of these young people can do. For me it demonstrates a few things… 1) How, as an industry, we need to keep working together to make the biggest impact. Isn’t that right Mohammad Taher? 2) The passion and interest is absolutely there to keep bringing to life these roles. We’re only just getting started! 3) Location must not be a barrier to inspiring young people. We have to find ways to bring that content to life and to where those young people are and not expect them to always come to us. 🌍 We’re committed to finding as many of those barriers and hunting for a solution for each one, until anyone with an interest has the ability to get involved. ✈️ 63 schools | 177 classrooms | 6400 students #stemcareers #stem #aviationjobs #futureminds #nats #natsfutureminds

The virtual event gave 6400 primary pupils from 63 different schools the chance to meet aviation professionals Craig Hickson, Pilot Training Captain, and Harry Boyce, Air Traffic Control Engineering Manager! Inspiring Aviation, in partnership with Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom, aims to open young people’s eyes to the wide range of careers in the industry, particularly if they might not otherwise get the chance to learn about them and hear from professionals first hand. Huge thanks to our volunteers for giving their time to inspire pupils from state schools across the UK.

Where’s the work? Aviation for sure. With airport travel set to double worldwide by 2040 and thousands of new airplanes coming online this is a growing industry. Not to mention airport capacity currently at 99%, we need people in aviation and the new program at MRU is just the ticket to help get us there. This means more than pilots too. It means Instructors, support staff and administrative staff as well as maintenance. It also means more infrastructure construction as we expand airport capacity both internationally and regionally. #aviationjobs #careers #jobsearch #careerplanningforabetterfuture #careerplanning #aviation #MRU
