📢📢 Calling all self- employed business owners … your time is nearly up! In the UK, the PAYMENT ON ACCOUNT deadline, on 31st July, is an important date for self-employed individuals and some other taxpayers. Over the last few posts I have been giving you IMPORTANT reasons why meeting this deadline is so crucial… Seventh and final reason - Ensure Accuracy By submitting your payment on account on time, you know when your next self assessment tax return is completed (for 5 April 2024 tax year end), the figures are accurate and the only amount left to pay in January 2025 will be residual tax for that tax year plus the first payment on account for the next tax year (ending 5 April 2025) Ultimately though, by meeting this deadline it will help you maintain good tax compliance. Always talk to a qualified accountant if you need help in this area. 🔍 Understanding HMRC's Information Notice: Know Your Rights! Did you know HMRC can request specific documents or information to review your tax position under Schedule 36 of the Finance Act 2008? These "information notices" can be used to check past, present, and even future tax liabilities. 📌 Here's what you need to know: • HMRC may issue a written request to access your tax information. • There are limits on what they can ask for, and you have the right to appeal. • Some documents are legally protected—don't hand over more than required! Before responding to any notice, it's always a good idea to consult a tax expert. 💼✅ 👉 Watch our latest video by Apoorva Agrawal to learn more! https://lnkd.in/gFjAhguM #TaxTips #HMRC #TaxCompliance #FinanceAct2008 #TaxRights #TaxAdvice #HMRCChecks #WeAreDNS Siddharth, Owais, Steve, Gourav, Gabi, Kumari Jyoti

Have you been sent a simplified (four page) Self-Assessment Tax Return form? HMRC sometimes issue this short tax return to people whose tax affairs appear to be straight-forward. (You can’t ask for one; it will be issued to you if relevant). Please check it carefully before you return it! HMRC may not know about all your investments so it’s important to make sure you list all your sources of income. If in any doubt, please seek professional advice. #FinancialAdvice #Bookkeeper #TaxReturn

Tax returns are not usually a favourite task (except for us - we love them 😍) so when you hear that their deadline is 31 January next year they can often go on the 'To-do later' list. However, there are great reasons to get your return done early: 💡 You then have certainty about what tax you owe 💡 You can plan your tax affairs rather than being in the dark 💡 You have more time to set aside the money needed 💡 You get it off your 'To-do' list But did you know that if you get your return done well before the 31 July payment is due then, if the payment is more than needed, HMRC will reduce it? ✨ That saves waiting to get overpaid tax back. (Don't worry your July payment will not be increased by you doing this.) Other side effects are: ⭐ You will feel relived and also super smug ⭐ HJP will be proud of you Can you think of other reasons for getting that tax return done and off your list? #taxreturn #tax #accounting #accountingtips #financialintelligence #smallbusiness #businessowner #accountants #accounting #financialintelligence #supportsmallbusiness #personalfinances #berko #hemel #berkhamsted #tring #hemelhempstead #hjpchartered
