"I came from Mexico City five years ago in 2019 to start my career in the Chappaqua Store as a Team Member in the Meat department. I was a photographer in Mexico City, so I came to Whole Foods Market with little knowledge of meat or the grocery environment. I slowly developed my experience as a Team Member and grew confident enough to assist my leadership. I began Butcher training in 2021, and two years later, I moved to our White Plains store, where I finished the Butcher Apprentice program. A month later, my store leadership promoted me to the Associate Team Leader role in the Meat Department. In my new role, I aided in the Rochester and Jersey City store openings, where I cultivated relationships with some of the experienced Butchers there. I gained tremendous knowledge from them and grew my own cutting skills (I love trimming Tenderloin and Flap Steak). What I like most about being a Butcher is the creativity, how I delight and satisfy our customers and sharing my craft with my son, teaching him the skills I've gained, like the importance of picking a good steak! The Butcher Apprentice program has allowed me to accelerate my career at Whole Foods. Knowing nothing about meat, becoming a Butcher and ATL are accomplishments I never thought I would achieve. I would love to see more women in the Butcher industry. There is a misconception that only men are capable of this work. It's crucial to demonstrate that women also have outstanding skills in this field. Gender diversity in the workplace is not only ethical, but it also drives innovation and business success. Through my experience, I want to empower women and men to overcome barriers and achieve their goals. It is time to recognize and celebrate the contributions of women in the Butcher industry and the world of work in general. By doing so, we not only promote gender equality but we build a stronger, more sustainable future. "I joined Whole Foods Market twice — once as a Social Media Intern in 2022 and most recently as a Social Media and Influencer Marketer since August. Whole Foods Market was always my comfort place to find specialty products and brands as a foodie (like my favorite pistachio milk and vegan croissants!). Beyond my customer experience with the store, my internship was the perfect introduction and boot camp to the business side of Whole Foods, where I got to translate business needs and learnings into my current role. I love how we integrate our culture and values into our storytelling on our organic social and influencer marketing channels. There’s also always something new in social media, so it’s a fun challenge to tie our brand into culturally relevant online conversations — like tying our viral Berry Chantilly Cake to an episode of The Bachelor on our TikTok. "I began working at Whole Foods Market almost four years ago in our Grocery Department, moving into various roles before working my way up to Grocery Team Leader. Through my journey, I developed a motivation to inspire and support others looking to grow at Whole Foods and found that opportunity in a Store Trainer position. It's been two months since I became a Store Trainer, and I can honestly attest that time flies when you’re having fun! I feel so useful with my position in the store, onboarding new Team Members and showing them what Whole Foods is passionate about. Showing a positive attitude and building respect with each person is essential to my role. I try to be open and available for my team so people know they can come to me for any assistance, from navigating tax forms to accessing training programs. I also love being hands-on with the teams when they need an extra hand due to callouts or labor constraints. Being in each department helps me connect with the new hires and our existing Team Members. Moving into this role has been very self-motivating. The learning opportunities and appreciation I receive from my teams and store leadership have made this a rewarding experience. I’ve since grown into a Senior Recruiter, supporting almost every piece of the business at some point. I gravitated towards Whole Foods because of the people I knew working here and the constant sharing of how great the atmosphere was. When I got a call about a contract role, it was a no-brainer.   Working with different leaders and teams, I’ve always noticed how kind everyone is and how much joy people have working here. I’ve been lucky enough to work with so, so many great leaders (too many to mention here); these people keep me here, especially my Talent Acquisition organization.   The career growth, development, mentorship and care we receive are great, but the people I work with daily are stellar individuals. They saw my entire journey to fatherhood while at Whole Foods. I had unbelievable support from leaders Jeni Madsen and Mia Bryant-Leonard, but my team, they were the ones who got me through miscarriages, and they were the ones who — outside of my immediate family — I was so excited to tell when we were finally having a daughter. This journey is not one I’d ever wish on anybody, but having this group of people walk beside me during it and celebrate our new addition, that’s special. Seeing our CEO in the store and having him remember that my wife and I were expecting, that’s special. Watching my team play with our kids as we all become parents working together, it’s all special.   Becoming a father while working at Whole Foods fills me with gratitude. I work for an organization filled with so many caring humans.
