The discussion with Ernest Scheyder, the author of the War Below, will be informative. The issue is how we choose to proceed with the competing demands of societal mineral needs and the “not in my backyard” sentiment of many. As an example in the past 20 years the elements that are required in a cell phone have doubled from 30 to over 60. Humans need minerals. Where will they come from??? As Max Plank, the father of quantum physiacs said; Mining is not everything. Yet everything is nothing without mining.
We are in the final countdown to RDC's 45th Annual Alaska Resources Conference! You can't properly manage what you don't measure. That's why Regional Director Shawn Hagan and our local forestry consultants from Steigerwaldt Land Services, Inc. are on-site at our new Flambeau River property in northern Wisconsin for operations inventory: collecting tree measurements and data to determine what species of trees we have, how big they are, and what value they have in the forest product marketplace. This information is key in determining the health of the forest and guiding future management decisions - and is just one of the ways we ensure our carbon credits are of the highest quality and integrity.
