One of our inspiring National Head Girl Competition finalists, Amarachi Edeh from Queens Model Secondary School, Enugu State, is already turning her vision into action! With the prize money awarded to her at the conference, Amarachi has developed powerful campaign materials for her project on Sextortion Awareness —a critical issue she presented at NHGC 2024. Her next steps? Engaging students during school assemblies and connecting with parents and teachers at PTA meetings to spread awareness and equip her community to combat sextortion. It’s incredible to see how the National Head Girl Conference is equipping young leaders like Amarachi to make immediate, lasting change. You can watch her project presentation via the link in our bio #NHGC2024 #YoungVoicesBigImpact

On Life's misfortunes... Steve Jobs, in his now famous 2005 Commencement speech at Stanford said this: “Sometimes, life hits you in the head with a brick!” Yes! Sometimes, in the course of our lives, we get some really big shocker! Like that bumper sticker: “Sh*t happens!” and you know that chaos just took over! Chaos, uncertainty and disorder are easy; they are the default modes of everything. The uncertainty principle described in Quantum Mechanics does not only affect the very small or the very large. It is at the core of life, itself! Chaos happens every time you misappropriate energy; or simply lose focus and sustained attention on your goals of the moment. At times though, we find ourselves in momentary peace and quiet, and then, we begin to feel contented and even, happy. And wish that the moment would continue forever. Often, when in that state of relative quiet & contentment… we become so scared to do anything that will disrupt the moment; because disrupting the moment, might only result in upsetting the status quo and the relative calm. And yet, when Chaos & turmoil in our lives happen, we may need to begin again... from the bottom! And start over… again… and again… and yet, again! That decision will NOT be easy…but, it will be extremely essential… because before we can move on again, changes will be necessary! And to freeze, drift and do nothing, will only allow chaos & disorder to rule and dominate our lives. During such major inflection points of our lives, we need to pause, take respite and do some serious rethinking of our goals and priorities. And yet, this is NOT the same as doing nothing! For “to-do-nothing” should be the farthest thing from your mind; because you will never change your life for the better, UNTIL you change some of those things you do daily, everyday thereafter! And then..."Let there be light!" Light makes things possible for people; and seeing opens many avenues and paths to choose from. It gives us the chance to handle and manage the moment; and the succession of moments that follow. We may not always succeed, but the chance is there. And therefore, hope can finally blossom… and a new future is possible.

Imagine this: A student sits in a classroom, trying to focus when suddenly, someone pulls off their hijab. This isn’t just a shocking act—it’s a stark reminder of the Islamophobia that many Muslims, young and old, face every day. But we can do something about it! Our team member, Saira, shares how schools and organisations can tackle Islamophobia head-on and create a culture of inclusion and respect. This post isn’t just about raising awareness, it’s a call to action. Start making a difference by implementing our strategies - see link in comments.
