I really enjoyed reading this year's Bolster Group and Tixel "Front Row Centre" report. There were a few interesting takes which I wanted to share... ENCOURAGING EARLIER TICKET PURCHASES 1. Knowing friends have tickets to events (32%) – Startups like Like Minded Global and Paysquad are working on this. 2. Offering exclusive perks or access (17%) – For example, meet headliners with holograms through Proto Hologram, Holoconnects, and local manufacturer DreamGlass. MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT OF FESTIVALS 1. Crowd experience ranks highly (63%), just behind atmosphere (75%) – What does a Hackathon look like where we brainstorm ideas for improving fan experiences at festivals? HotHack AUDIENCE INSIGHTS 1. For 18-24-year-olds, the cost of living impacts their spending on experiences at twice the rate of those 51+. Are there new models that could bring together different generations? I went along to the Archibald Closing party at Art Gallery NSW, which was a great example of bringing together different generations. INDUSTRY SHIFT More broadly as CAST - Centre for Arts, Sports and Technology, we’re working towards a change that would add two additional elements to industry reports: 1. Highlighting Innovation – Shining a light on companies already solving some of the industry's key challenges outlined in reports. 2. An Invitation to Innovate – Opening up discussions on opportunities for innovation based on each report's findings/data. What do the contributors to each report see as the next big opportunities for the industry?

With all the buzz around Oasis reforming in 2025 and the inevitable sell-out stadium gigs on the horizon, I started thinking about how massive bands like them could do more to support up-and-coming musicians. Wouldn’t it be great if they opened up their stages to newer acts? I mean, imagine if Oasis held a competition where smaller bands could apply to be the support act—maybe play a 20-30 minute set at the start of the night. It wouldn’t take anything away from the main event, and let's be honest, not everyone is there right at the beginning anyway. But for those bands, playing even to a half-full stadium would be a game-changer. They’d get exposure, maybe even meet the band, and at the very least, they’d be part of something huge. It feels like there’s a real lack of big artists giving others a leg up these days. When Oasis started, they had people giving them a shot, so it’s only right they pay it forward. Especially when they’ve always presented themselves as champions of the working class. The best way to really show that working-class solidarity now? Support the next generation of bands. Give them a platform, like they were given once. Just a thought – wouldn’t it be incredible if they actually did it? What's your thoughts? #oasis #livemusic #supportnewmusic

The Diage Festival 2024 at Unformat Studio wasn’t just a festival—it was an incredible journey through sound, light, and digital art. This year’s event felt like stepping into a dream, with every corner alive with creativity, collaboration, and connection. From the moment I entered, I was surrounded by a mix of stunning visuals and music. The studio was transformed into a vibrant, energetic space where art and technology came together perfectly. The artists on stage weren’t just performing; they were channeling our souls and letting us join the journey with them. Seeing strangers connect through these moments was a powerful reminder of how art can bring people together. The crowd was as diverse as the performances. Tech enthusiasts chatted with art lovers, and longtime fans of electronic music shared their excitement with newcomers. There was a real sense of community like we were all part of something unique and fleeting. As the night went on, no one wanted it to end. People stayed, talking and sharing their experiences late into the night, energized by everything they had seen and heard. Diage Festival 2024 wasn’t just an event; it was a glimpse into a future where creativity knows no limits. Unformat Studio once again showed that it’s more than just a venue—it’s a space for unforgettable, transformative experiences.
