In recent times museums and art exhibitions have adopted immersive technology solutions to enhance the visitor experience. The reason this technology is so captivating is due to the third dimension it displays, bringing objects and scenes to life. This week’s industry update features an exciting art gallery at Alliance Française of Madras, which incorporates augmented reality elements to engage and captivate its audience. The exhibition showcases the work of Aurélien Jeanney. He first ventured into this creative fusion in 2016 when he was invited to Maison d’Ailleurs, a Swiss science fiction museum where Jeanney designed a collection of illustrations and posters inspired by Jules Verne's works. The goal was to introduce children to art through AR, enabling them to explore imaginative worlds interactively and bringing timeless stories to life. If you attended Venice Immersive, then consider filling out this attendee survey that I’m doing with XRMust to get some more metrics on what folks were able to see, some your favorite experiences overall, and then your top 5 experiences. The jury awards were given yesterday with special immersive achievement given to Impulse: Playing with Reality, then special jury prize to Oto’s Planet, and then the Venice Immersive Grand Prize to Ito Meikyu. I have also recorded 35 interviews so far totalling over 30 hours digging into more detail the innovations and unique nature of this year’s selection that I will hopefully be posting within the next week or so.
