Iowa Farmers Union is currently in the midst of a fundraising campaign aimed at supporting an expanded presence at this year's Iowa State Fair. The campaign is called 'Fund it Forward'. Continue reading to find out what plans are being made for Iowa Farmers Union Day at the Iowa State Fair and more. To donate, visit https://lnkd.in/gCSF-4xq 1) Iowa Farmers Union Day at the State Fair on Sunday, August 11 - a full day of ag-related activities presented by IFU on the fair’s Main Concourse. This is a first for IFU but it’s a marketing opportunity that has incredible potential. According to State Fair statistics, approximately 1115,000 people attend the fair on the first Sunday. That a lot of potential for getting the word about IFU out to the general public including potential new members and allies. This is a singular opportunity, especially for an organization with a wealth of longevity but few marketing-designated dollars. 2) A booth in the Agriculture Building - the site of an estimated 375,000 visitors according to State Fair stats. Our booth last year was a phenomenal success! Situated a short line away from the Butter Cow (first carved by IFU member Duffy Lyon), we were in a prime location to meet, greet and acquaint fair-goers with the Farmers Union. During the course of the 11 day fair, volunteers were able to sign up 106 new members. That’s more than twice the number we enlisted while our booth was in the Varied Industries building during fairs prior to 2023. 3) Expanding our local food cooking demonstrations in ‘The Kitchen’, a culinary facility located next to the Fair Grandstand. IFU did 4 sessions last year. Two sessions with Chef Donna Pritzgintas and farmer Lonna Nachtigal of Onion Creek farm near Ames and two sessions with farmer/author Beth Hoffman and Chef/butcher/farmerJohn Hogeland of Whippoorwill Creek Farm near Lovilla, IA. These demonstrations were so well-received that the decision was made to expand programming in this site Of course, the price tag for all of this promotion is significant. Costs include registration fees for each of the venues, the cost of signage and printing of informational hand-outs, IFU swag, contest prizes and give-aways and staff time. It’s a golden opportunity that we want to seize but we need your help to make it happen. Will you increase your investment to help IFU expand its presence? Help us make this dream a reality! To donate, click here: https://lnkd.in/gjrGC5NE... We are always stronger when we work together. Let’s make this happen!

Happy one year to the traveling blanket show! Some days it feels like we're just getting started, others it's like we've been doing this forever! (Maybe it's just the old timey black and white filter...) Doing events and markets is probably our favorite part of this business, and we've learned a lot this past year. For example: 🙌 We've built great relationships with our donation partners, and shared the incredible work they're doing with thousands of customers (thanks for stopping by our booth and listening!) 🌍 Gone global! Our blankets purchased from markets have ended up in at least three countries - maybe more? 🧀 Expanded our reach to Wisconsin for at least a couple events (so far!) 🤕 Learned to lift with my legs - those tent weights are heavier than they look, ouch 🧶 Aligned with the best wholesale partners, who treat us like family and supply us with a product that is truly a labor of love - one we can be proud to show off every week (and given us a lot of freedom to design our own exclusives!) 📣 Found some truly amazing promoters, who make running these events look easy. Spoiler alert, they're not 🧠 Gained a ton of knowledge from our vendor friends who have a creative spirit and insight that is unmatched. We still don't always know what we're doing, but we sound like it because of you! 👥 Finally, thank you to every customer who has taken time to say hello, share a personal story, make a purchase, and maybe even come back for another... You're literally and figuratively keeping the lights on at blanket HQ! To the next year of setting up, tearing down, and enjoying every minute in between! #thankyou #marketseason #comesayhi #thisisfun #1for1 #1sold1donated

Ever thought about hosting a food drive? There’s never been a better time to come together and help fill the shelves at FISH Food Pantry. FISH is serving more neighbors than ever and our Community Shelves are virtually EMPTY. Hosting a food drive is a great community-building activity for groups including schools, clubs, churches, and businesses. It can be as easy as putting out a box and with a list of most needed items OR you can make it fun. Here are some ideas: Bring in a little healthy competition! Challenge another group (team, class, business, etc.) to see who can raise the most pounds of food. Fill a brown bag. Get the whole neighborhood involved. Drop off paper bags to your neighbors with a note saying that you are collecting food for FISH and when you will come pick up the bags. On the designated day, collect the bags from everyone’s front porch and bring them to FISH. We can weigh them and get a photo to share with everyone who participated. Scrub-a-Dub! Host a car wash and have your customers pay in food or donations. Game Day. Is there an upcoming football match you are excited about? Have your community vote on who they think is winning having a box for each team. You can tally the results and announce the predicted favorite. If your drive is open to the public, let us know, and we will promote your event. It’s a great way to shine a light on your business or group. We can also create materials and social media posts or lists of the most needed items. Email jenna@kvfish.org for more information or food drive assistance.

Let's address the real issue at hand instead of making baseless and irrelevant criticisms about Loblaws affordability. The profit margins are already so slim that even if they switched to a non-profit model you would not see much of a difference at the checkout. How about we focus on something real like government overspending, inefficiency and the total disrespect for our money.
Enough with the cravings, Loblaws. How about caring?

Have been thinking more about system thinking in the context of AI; we know what happens when AI supplements parts of a system because it is and it has. But what do things look like when we have full AI systems? We’re seeing the first bits now. When Google says put glue on pizza, it’s not a broken AI; it’s an AI that should want something different than what it wants. More, I’m the context of our human fundraising systems here.
⚙️ Ever feel like your nonprofit system needs to be fixed? Learn why it's not broken; it's just built that way. In our latest blog, Nicholas Ellinger explains how recognizing the true purpose of your system can lead to impactful changes and better outcomes. 🧠 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/g7Ny7deY 📖 We must realize what parts of the system are us. When we say, "It’s how we’ve always done it," or "That’s not best practice," we are part of the system that gets the results it gets. We must use our storytelling powers to tell the story of what a donor sees or what the future looks like. #NonprofitFundraising #SystemsThinking #WeAreMoore
