‘An exciting opportunity to bring together the incredible diversity of our hospitality, heritage, culture and attractions’: County’s tourism champion appoints new head THE CAMPAIGN to strengthen Northamptonshire’s visitor economy has taken a step forward with the appointment of the chair for the county’s Local Visitor Economy Partnership. Delapré Abbey’s chief executive Richard Clinton is to lead the partnership into the next phase of its formation – the submission of the LVEP application to national tourism body Visit England. This application is due to be submitted soon, with a decision expected early next year. ICYMI: Akron/Summit Convention & Visitors Bureau shared information this week about the strength of the hospitality sector as a key economic driver for Summit County. “The travel and tourism industry is a major economic driver in Summit County, generating significant revenue and supporting thousands of local jobs,” said Gregg Mervis, president & CEO of the ASCVB. “We have strong partners and valuable assets that continue to attract visitors to the area, boost local businesses and enhance our community. 🎓 Today’s Contemporary Issues in Leisure and Tourism class was all about golf tourism—its economic impact, media exposure, and why it’s such a driving force in destinations worldwide. 🏌️♂️ We explored how golf tourism generates significant revenue for host communities, from local businesses to hospitality and transportation sectors, as well as the powerful media exposure that showcases these destinations globally. Understanding the profile of golf tourists and the demand for high-quality experiences was a key focus, revealing the potential for sustainable growth. We also discussed the much-anticipated Open 2025 at Royal Portrush, a perfect case study to see these impacts in action. As Northern Ireland prepares for the event, it’s exciting to see how a single tournament can have a ripple effect, not only on the local economy but on the international stage.
