A program focused on retaining, growing and developing Australia’s shipbuilding workforce. How does it feel to have formal recognition? “Incredibly proud and humbled!” says Sharon. What do the PRIDE values mean to you? “It’s leading by example and embedding each individual PRIDE value in how we engage, operate and deliver our work.” Can you share any career advice? “Recently I had an executive tell me to ‘get comfortable with the uncomfortable’, that just about sums up my career. Jumping in the deep end, knowing I have the safety net of my team and mentors to support me when I feel out of my depth. 🌟 Embrace the Learning Journey 🌟 This photo popped up today, from 13 years ago! My first thought was how young we look, followed very quickly by the reflection of just how far we've come John Baileff MBE since our days as Officer cadets. The 12 months we spent training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, were some of the toughest months I've ever faced. At the time, we would ask 'what is the point in this training'. I specifically remember this thought whilst digging full depth trenche and 72 hours without sleep - seemed a bit pointless, given the advances in technology (and the existence of JCBs). But it was never about the trenches, it was about resilience and trust. In my 12 years of military service I relied on the training I received at RMAS several times, sometimes subconsciously, which is just one of the reasons I'm passionate about my job. At Osborne Clarke, we believe in the power of investing in our people, and trusting in our training to not only enhance skills but also to empower people to excel in the face of new challenges. 🚀 Trust the Training It's natural to question the immediate relevance of certain training sessions. However, it's crucial to trust the process. The true value of our learning often shines brightest when we find ourselves in uncharted territory, armed with the knowledge and skills we didn't even realise we'd need. 🌐 Trusting the Process Learning is a journey, not a destination. It's about embracing each step, understanding that every module, every workshop, and every piece of feedback is a building block towards a more proficient, confident, and innovative self. The process is as important as the outcome. 💡 You Don't Know What You Don't Know We've all experienced that 'aha' moment when a piece of training suddenly clicks into place in a real-world scenario. It's a powerful reminder that what we learn today may be the solution to tomorrow's problem. We recently sat down with them to get an inside look at their mission, values, and what makes them stand out. Here's what they had to say: 1. Can you describe your company's mission and values. - Our mission is to cultivate personal and professional excellence in the industry and community, foster a culture of engagement and service, help build stronger futures, and create a career-ready workforce together with our diverse student body. 2. What makes your workplace culture unique? - Here at FAI, we supply our students with the ability to learn in the classroom and also have hands-on learning with actual aircraft. Our students are on a block schedule of 5 hours in which they will complete all of their homework and studying so they can leave all of their schoolwork at the hanger and not take it home with them. 3. What benefits or perks do you offer your employees/students? - We offer students the assistance they need to complete their FAA certifications in Airframe and Powerplant. We also offer them the help they need to find the ideal job placement after you get your certification. 4. Can you share a recent success story or accomplishment from your team? - Upon graduation from our program, one of our students got a job offer with United that offered him a $25,000 sign on bonus and starting out at $75,000 a year. Other recent graduates are at a 100% job placement after receiving their A&P certification. 5. How do you support the professional development and growth of your employees/students? - We support our students' training by giving the state-of-the-art material to study and actual aircraft parts that they can practice on.
