🌟Successful Testing of Ultrasound Sensors 📍On October 28th and 29th, teams from Ceit Centro Tecnológico and TSI -Técnicas y Servicios de Ingeniería S.L.- collaborated on-site at TSI’s facilities in Madrid, conducting tests of #Ceit’s sensors on a prototype tower engineered by #TSI. 🔧These two days of testing marked a significant advancement in thickness measurement and structural response analysis under both static and dynamic conditions. 🏅 Key Achievements. 🔹 Conducted static tests by applying loads of up to 2 kN. 🔹Performed dynamic tests, subjecting the structure to vibrations at various frequencies. 🔹Complemented ultrasound measurements with TSI sensors, including an accelerometer and strain gauge. 🔜 Next Steps Our next objective is to carry out a detailed modal analysis of the structure, using accelerometer and strain gauge data. Ultrasound is a valuable non-destructive testing modality, allowing one to characterise material properties and detect internal flaws. However, typical ultrasonic testing methods can struggle to adequately assess complex material geometries and internal heterogeneities. Working in collaboration with researchers from ETH Zürich (Henrik Rasmus Thomsen) and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW (Christian Brauner, Sabrina Bättig), we are assessing the potential of guided-wave ultrasound for NDT, using Salvus. In this example, Lars Gebraad simulated propagation of guided-wave ultrasound through a physics-augmented digital twin of a T-stringer – a component typically used for reinforcement in the aerospace industry, and in this case made from CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer). Understanding the propagation of guided waves using the digital twin helps with material characterisation, as well as planning, validation and analysis of measured data for monitoring and testing. 🚀 In collaboration with the laboratory LSEE (Laboratoire Systèmes Electrotechniques et Environnement ), Université d'Artois, Eomys engineers realized an extensive e-NVH test campaign 🔬 on four different electric motor topologies, with SCIM, PMSM, EESM, and SynRM configurations🧲. The purpose of the dedicated semi-anechoic chamber was to investigate global machines' vibroacoustic performances via multi-physic measurements, including vibration, acoustic, electric, and thermal sensors, through several experiments such as Run-Ups & Downs, ODS, or EMA ⚒️! Manatee software will conduct e-NVH simulations on these precious tests, helping us better understand the physical phenomena involved in electromagnetic noise generation. This paper presents a numerical study and the optimization of very short discrete multi-pump Raman amplifiers using Tellurite-based optical fibers. While most studies about discrete Raman amplifiers usually focus on cases where hundreds of meters of fiber are used, here we consider a multi-pumped Raman amplifier setup with extremely short dimensions, in which the length of the gain media was varied from 2.5 to 30 meters. The optimization process was developed over an broad amplification band from 1520 to 1600 nm, considering a maximum acceptable ripple of 3 dB, and using 2, 3 and 4 pumps with individual powers always below 2.5 W. The results show that it is possible to achieve net gains as high as 10 dB for gain media around 20 meters, and close to 15 dB for 30 meters. These high gains highlight the fact that Tellurite-based optical fibers can be used for the construction of very short and compact broadband amplifiers using just a few pump lasers with modest optical powers.
