CurrENT is starting a new series #CurrENTTechTuesdays, where for the next 8 weeks we will be showcasing the innovative grid technologies that we based our study with Compass Lexecon on, ‘Prospects for Innovative Power Grid Technologies’. #InnovativeGridTechnologies can drastically increase capacity at both the distribution and the transmission level. As well as this, deploying innovative grid technologies at scale can save up to €700 billion in costs by 2040, according to the projections of our study.  This week's technology in the spotlight is #DynamicLineRating. #DLR uses weather parameters, such as wind, to increase the amount of current that can be passed through conductors. The cooling effect of a windy day means that the overall amount of current that can be safely passed through the conductors increases, making more efficient use of the existing grid. DLR systems can increase the current and make the most of unused potential compared to a ‘one-size-fits-all' maximum current on conventional lines.  What are the key benefits?  ⚡ DLR provides a better understanding of actual line limits. 💻 Reduces congestion through optimization of asset utilization. ♻ Supports the integration of renewables by allowing for reduced RES curtailment. 📈It can increase a line's capacity by up to 45%. Dear all Heading back to Paris after 3 days in Stockholm and Ludvika for the Power Electronics days we organized. What a journey we have been on! 2024 celebrates the 70 years HVDC at #hitachienergy which has supported extremely important projects - benchmarks for the entire industry – and made possible real, concrete actions to drive the energy transition.   With our advanced Power Electronic solutions and products, we are strengthening our power infrastructure and supporting the much-needed decarbonization of the energy sector. This technology addresses the needs of the biggest trend that I see today: the collective mobilization of the entire industry to accelerate the energy transition. That’s why trusted partnerships and collaboration are essential to finding the solutions our world needs, with this new business models, based on agile collaboration, standardization of solutions and synergies between projects.   The green energy revolution requires an entire industry to transform. The challenges we are currently facing are not just at the scale of one company or group of technology providers.
