School staff can help prevent bullying by establishing and enforcing school rules and policies that clearly describe how students are expected to treat each other. Consequences for violations of the rules should be clearly defined as well. There are several types of policies and rules that work to prevent bullying. Each serves a different purpose: https://lnkd.in/gUWDgUNS #bullying #school

October is Bullying Prevention Month– a crucial time to raise awareness about the devastating effects of bullying. My research focuses on the intersection of bullying, suicide, and violent behaviors among African American youth. Bullying not only impacts mental health but can also lead to tragic outcomes like suicidal behavior. It’s essential that we work together to create safe, supportive environments for all young people, particularly in communities of color where the effects of bullying can be compounded by other systemic challenges. Let’s continue to raise awareness, foster kindness, and advocate for prevention strategies that address these critical issues. #BullyingPreventionMonth #StopBullying #MentalHealthMatters #AfricanAmericanYouth #SuicidePrevention #Research #BehavioralHealth #IWant2BWell

Some signs of a controlling personality include: Always trying to win an argument or have the last word Acting superior to others Being determined to show others that they are the most logical, practical, and intelligent person in the room Certain personality disorders, such as borderline personality disorder (BPD) and narcissistic personality disorder (NPD), can increase the likelihood of controlling behavior. Caution: Titles may encourage and enable this behavior in the workplace

I was a bully in elementary school and then was bullied in middle and high school by students and some teachers. I've been bullied by coworkers, supervisors, and even staff I have supervised. I have been bullied in relationships including romantic and their family members and also some of my own family members. I have been bullied by people who I thought were friends. Yes I am stronger because of it...does it make it right? No. I am fortunate for some reason I have the ability to move on without taking it personal and understanding that bullying is about the person who is doing the bullying and not the person being bullied. If you find yourself or anyone you know bullying other people or questioning whether you are a bully, I encourage you to reach out for help because it is not a healthy way to deal with your struggles and you could harm someone else intentionally or unintentionally. If you are the bullied reach out for help because it can be very difficult not to internalize what is happening to you. You may need help seeing the whole picture and understand why people bully others. If you are being bullied please understand that it is NEVER about you, it is always about the person who is bullying and how they feel about themselves. It takes no effort, money, or energy to be kind to one another. Please choose kindness always. You never know when your words or actions might put someone over the edge because of what they are going through! 🖤
