This week we're reflecting on 'Co-production' as part of #CoProductionWeek2024 Today we want to share what co-production looks like in bemix. bemix tries hard to co-produce all its work, as much as possible. This means people with and without autism and/or a learning difficulty/disability share the decision making in all our work. Co-production is at the heart of everything in bemix: ⦁ in leadership ⦁ within our workforce ⦁ within our group projects ⦁ in Supported Employment ⦁ in campaigns ⦁ in our work outside of bemix In projects with people and organisations outside of bemix, including statutory services, we work equally alongside professionals or those with relevant expertise and skills. But it could be anyone in the local community: younger or older people, carers and supporters, people looking for a job, lone parents. It depends on who the work will benefit or impact, and therefore, whose voices are important to include. For us, a fair society needs co-production at its heart. Dear Partners, Spring – when everything in nature is being reborn – is a fascinating  time for me, and for most Finns I believe. I live in the countryside, in a small village of 20 people named Vahterus. My parents were farmers and moved to Vahterus just before I was born. In farming, as in everything, the whole process has changed with the development of machines and the decrease in manual work. And the so-called ‘natural economy’ has changed to an industrial one during the past 100 years. People have moved from farms to cities. In Finland, this change has happened primarily during my lifetime. The younger generation has seen very little countryside. As with every change, this has two sides. On the minus side, city life means missing many experiences of nature. Just the other night, for example, as I was working in the fields in the evening, six big moose came along, wondering what I was doing. Half an hour later, a group of deer entered the scene. And later, I was surrounded by rabbits. While I was harrowing the soil, hundreds of seagulls were flying around my tractor in search of worms, and in the tree next to me, I saw a lapwing nesting her four eggs, preparing the next generation.   Springtime is so rich. In one short moment, one can detect so many signs of new life with one’s own senses. To me this is an important part of human life. It’s something I look forward to every spring – something I need, love and enjoy year after year. And here in the northern part of the globe, the changing four seasons are the origin of many innovations. It has certainly been a source of new energy and invention for me, and for Vahterus, which we’re building together with you, our valued partners. Life will continue to renew and change, and with the help of innovative technology, keep on carrying us towards a better future for the next generation. Together we succeed! I took this step because,I wanted to push myself beyond my comfort zone, enhance my skills, and accelerate my personal and professional growth. I’ve always believed that growth happens outside of our comfort zones. This challenge is designed to test my skills, mindset, and resilience, and I’m ready to take it to the next level. Earlier this year, I made a decision to put my self out there. I realised that I was becoming an introvert socially,I just wanted to grow silently and do my things on my own. But my mind has been renewed! There are a lot of wonderful people out there, but I need to come out of my comfort zone to meet and connect with them!
