This was an interesting post! While the solution might seem straightforward, it’s actually quite complex. For instance, did you know we can’t use many traditional beer terms on our “brews"? When it comes to THC beer—it’s a similar challenge. Some may be producing it, but going mainstream is tough because it’s governed by TTB regulations, which makes scaling difficult under the same restrictions as alcoholic and non-alcoholic beer. ----- The challenge lies in regulations. The TTB governs both beer and non-alcoholic beer, and every label requires federal approval. As an NA producer, we're restricted from using terms like "beer," "pilsner," "ale," or "stout" on labels, though "IPA" is allowed. If a label includes an uncommon ingredient, we must submit a formula to a separate department, providing a detailed recipe. If the ingredient isn't federally approved, the formula is denied, and without formula approval, label approval won't happen—whether the product is alcoholic or not.
I like NA beers. I like cannabis. Why is it difficult to find a quality NA with some THC in it? And don't get me wrong; I enjoy the seltzer set - specifically Cann and Brez - but I don't always want that flavor profile. Sometimes you just want a beer. This subject needs to be discussed more as the NA brands continue to grow. Product quality and food safety is always a priority. Having the knowledge and experience to develop a proper program is essential for success of the industry.
E. coli can survive in non-alcoholic beer... In a recent study [1], researchers investigated the effects of antimicrobial variables, including storage temperatures, pH, and ethanol concentrations, on common bacterial populations in non-alcoholic beer. The results? Non-alcoholic beers allowed pathogen growth. The researchers recommended: "low and non-alcoholic beers should be processed through pasteurization, to achieve commercial sterility." Our Beverage Factory features tunnel pasteurisation, ensuring commercial sterility to ensure consumer safety. If you are a beverage producer interested in non-alcoholic production, please direct message us today to learn more. [1] https://lnkd.in/d4U7fRyk

🍷 If you are going out tonight for #ValentinesDay, chances are you might order a glass of #Wine. Usually, you are asked whether you would like a small or a large glass – and a new study has now looked into the effect of lowering the serving size of wine on alcohol consumption. 🍇 The researchers asked 21 pubs, bars and restaurants in England to take away their largest serving size for 4 weeks - and wine consumption decreased on average by 7.6%, without affecting revenue. It seems, an effective use of the portion-size effect! 🍻 There was also no overall increase in beer and cider sales. Overall, the study suggests that people shifted toward the smaller options and ultimately drank less alcohol. But would this trend continue and how might satisfaction be affected? Find out more:

The Reference Amount Customarily Consumed (RACC) for a single serving on soda was changed in 2016 from 8 ounces to 12 ounces to reflect consumers ingesting larger amounts in single sittings. Serving size should always reflect what a consumer would customarily consume of that particular food or beverage. While the FDA considers any hemp beverage to be an adulterated and misbranded product, accurate serving sizes are still important to consumers --not to mention most state food laws require compliance with the major provisions in 21 U.S.C. §§ 301-392 (the US Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act). If you have a 12 fluid ounce can, you don't have six servings in that can.
