Each year, the Willy Korf Award for Young Excellence honours young engineers and scientists worldwide for their research and innovations in the steel industry. This week, we focus on our 2009 winner Dr Rodrigo Corbari. Rodrigo started his career at Vallourec in 2008 as a Steelmaking Senior Process Engineer and later took on roles such as Research Engineer, Senior Process Engineer/Energy Manager, and Operations Technology Manager. In 2018, Corbari joined TMK IPSCO as the Director of Process Engineering. He then moved on to Tenaris in 2020, where he held the position of Industrial Planning Senior Manager. Currently, Rodrigo works at GrafTech International Ltd. as the Vice President of Sales for the Americas and serves as the region's Customer Technical Service Director. GrafTech International is a leading manufacturer of high-quality graphite electrode products essential to the production of electric arc furnace “EAF” steel and other ferrous and non-ferrous metals. In an effort to reduce its carbon footprint, GraftTech has identified energy conservation opportunities and has invested in technology to capture process heat to reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gas and other air emissions while focusing on waste recycling, and water management as key strategies for reducing its environmental impact. #TheGreenSteelChallenge #greensteel #steel #KorfAwards #WillyKorfFoundation

8moProud of the recognition. It has been an exciting adventure filled with learnings. My favorite learning from the great Willy Korf is “What would you and we be without our dreams”. Big thank you to the Willy Korf Foundation and the amazing work on the green steel challenge.
