This infographic combines an engaging analogy with data visualization to showcase the critical role of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) in the transition towards a smarter grid (grid 4.0) and the evolving landscape of utilities...I love it!
The "country's most ambitious clean transit effort" (per Axios) broke ground a week ago in Montgomery County, MD. That raises the question: What can other #transit agencies learn from the county's example? A new story by E&E News shares an answer from our CEO, Juan Macias: “The county has proven itself as a national leader in zero-emissions transit in part by prioritizing simultaneous procurement of both the buses and the sustainable infrastructure needed to power them.” In other words, the zero-emissions buses are the tip of the iceberg. The extensive energy infrastructure that powers them must be planned and procured in tandem. Read here 👇 https://lnkd.in/eRMf75sf

Scottish Borders Council is improving #PassengerExperience by installing solar powered bus stop displays. The Journeo displays also save the local authority money because of lower installation costs, with no expensive civil works, and no ongoing power charges. This is part of the Council’s long-term strategy to provide accurate and timely travel information in rural locations and increase the number of real time displays at bus stops. Will North America go Dutch? Public works and transportation managers in the US and Canada have been seeking opportunities to improve their transportation and transit services, and the Dutch may have the solution. With the Dutch focus on the integration of all traffic modes, they have created some of the best infrastructure operations and traffic management programs in the world. Dutch solutions for congestion mitigation and greenhouse gas emission reduction are now becoming available in the US, opening the door for real innovation and improvement. Do you also want to go Dutch? Get inspired by Dutch transportation and transit services with this article written by David Zelenok, P.E. of ZK Engineers and Paul Hoekstra of TNL. https://lnkd.in/emcfzQJ5 #Traffic #TNL #Trafficmanagement #innovation #mobility #DutchTechnology

“UK Rail & Infrastructure” will broadcast on SKY Digital Channel 181 THIS Sunday, 28th July at 10:00 A.M. The transport sector is one of the most important parts of the global economy. If the transport industry suffers, so does a country’s economy. Whether it’s your everyday public transport use or trucks moving freight, this sector is in dire need of an overhaul to become more sustainable. Some companies within the sector realise the importance of becoming sustainable and have shifted their operations to accommodate this. This sector is also in the process of decarbonising. Many steps being taken by companies to embrace sustainability: from how the foundations of train tracks are laid to the electrification of transport systems. Special thanks to: John Murphy, Trevor Hartnett and Ben Browning at Quattro Plant Ltd. Neil Bradbury and Nathan Moore at Schweizer Electronic AG. Chris Smith at University of Exeter. Kelly Meachin at Xrail Group Ltd. #railway #transportsector #electrification #decarbonisation

We look back on a stimulating METREX symposium on circular construction in The Hague last week! 💡 As aptly explained by Peter Pol, 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 in this field is what we need! 🤝 METREX - The Network of European Metropolitan Regions and Areas | CircuLaw | Fanauw Hoppe | Eveline Bakker | Willem van Winden | Chandar van der Zande #Eurodelta #circulareconomy
Yesterday and today, METREX, the City of The Hague, and Circulaw hosted a dynamic and inspiring symposium focused on advancing the circular built environment. The event was framed by the Eurodelta region and the ongoing Interreg ASSET project on circular construction. Fifty participants engaged in discussions about regulations, partnerships, and spatial impacts, with Circulaw presenting an insightful position paper on relevant European regulations. One key outcome was the proposal to establish metropolitan partnerships among public bodies, businesses, and civil society. These partnerships aim to support local authorities in interpreting and implementing EU circular economy policies—covering materials, processes, and more—within their local contexts. #METREXCircular24

🚆⚡Could last weekend's recent trainline fault encourage the adoption of third rail?⚡🚆 On 26th September, yet another day of travel disruption ensued. Thanks to a fallen tree on the overhead lines in Dumfries and Galloway, some services were cancelled and many others delayed. Disruptions extended all the way to Preston in the North West of England and Leeds in the North East. Major rail companies including TransPennine Express and Avanti West Coast advised travellers to postpone journeys until the next day. With such a disruption from a single tree, could it encourage Network Rail and other line owners to expand on the Third Rail system commonly adopted down south? What do you think? We hope it means more innovation comes to northern networks with the implementation of leading railway performance cables. For example, our dedicated range of HUBER + SUHNER RADOX® cables. Thanks to this partnership, we can offer 3 million meters of rail infrastructure cables immediately from stock with custom logistical solutions. Contact the team on 0151 345 0808 or email info@helukabel.co.uk to learn more about the RADOX® range. #CableNews #ELectricalNews #RailwaysEngland #NetworkRail #HelukabelCables #HuberAndSuhner #RadoxCables #HelukabelRailCables #CableManufacturer #CableSupplier
