#Hospitality #Careergrowth #careerdevelopment #Hilton #Marriott Can a resume tell you everything you need to know about an individual’s potential? I have always said no. I firmly believe in taking risks and hiring people who show potential. If managers only look for those that have experience in the position they’re hiring for, how does that help young hospitality professionals grow in this industry? Those who have excelled faster than others should look for those that need someone to take a risk on them.

Great conversation between Kathryn Pharr from Community of Women in Water and Josh Newton of Josh's Water Jobs with great tips. 👇🏽 📺 https://lnkd.in/dpKSSvZW 7 key take-aways: 1️⃣ The best way to find a job is through networking - reaching out to people in organizations you're interested in, attending conferences, and having informational interviews/conversations. Online job boards are helpful but most jobs are found through personal connections. 2️⃣ When looking to relocate for a job, do your research by talking to people who live there about the living conditions, schools, housing market, healthcare, etc. Some companies may offer a trial period before fully relocating. 3️⃣ To get a job with limited experience, seek out short-term consultancies and paid internships to get your foot in the door. Demonstrate initiative, ask smart questions, and do your research on the organization. 4️⃣ Transferable skills like communication, writing, language abilities, and soft skills are very valuable, even if you don't have direct water sector experience. Frame your existing skills in the language of the job you're applying for. 5️⃣ To stand out to recruiters, showcase personal projects, volunteering, knowledge sharing on social media, etc. This demonstrates motivation and initiative. 6️⃣ Be upfront with potential employers about your needs around remote work, travel requirements, and work-life balance, especially if you have family considerations. Many organizations are open to negotiating flexible arrangements. 7️⃣ Continuously build your skills through online courses, MOOCs, certifications etc. Josh's Water Jobs plans to create a database of such training opportunities. #WASH #Jobs #Inclusion #genderEquity #WomenInWater

An incredible perspective embracing our imperfections that really hit home for me - "The next time something goes wrong, the next time you wish something didn’t exist—don’t try to hide it" So often, we focus on hiding the parts of us we don’t like thinking it will make it more "acceptable." But the truth is, these very traits are what make us unique, relatable, and human. Owning it transforms shame into strength. I love the idea of leaning into what makes us different, seeing these traits as assets rather than obstacles. Celebrate as you reflect 2024 and look ahead to 2025. Happy New Year! 🎉 #Authenticity #SelfAcceptance #Leadership #GrowthMindset

Why You Should Celebrate the Things You Hate I started my entry-level job, had my own salary, and wanted to get my own apartment. I didn’t have the money to get the apartment I wanted, so I lived in the apartment I could afford. That being said, it was a pretty wonderful little 3rd-floor walk-up studio apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. In the bathroom, there was this quite large heating pipe that ran from floor to ceiling between the sink and the toilet, about three or four inches from the wall. It was an eyesore. It was painted white like the walls… as if it would blend in. It didn’t. And in the winter, it got so hot that if anyone accidentally touched it, they would burn themselves. I hated that pipe. I couldn’t remove it. I couldn’t hide it… so I decided to celebrate it. I painted it red. Then something strange happened: https://lnkd.in/ejGQeASw

If you're a supervillain, one of the biggest challenges you're going to encounter is hiring quality henchmen. In fact, a recent survey of leaders across the global Villain Industry found that 70 percent of supervillains ranked "Difficulty finding good henchmen" as their top reason for scheme failure, even above "Hero punches really hard", and "Revealed entire plot to handsome superspy too soon". This is an unacceptable state of affairs, and Nefarious JobNet aims to change that: https://lnkd.in/eDzHFcv3 Nefarious JobNet is the world's first job board specifically dedicated to helping supervillains find good henchmen. Whether you're just looking for a freelance henchman to lurk outside your skull-shaped volcano fortress for a few weeks, or you need a whole team of experienced ninjas to ambush a superhero at an abandoned warehouse, Nefarious JobNet has you covered. And with access to a global talent pool, you can even post jobs for remote henchmen. Don't let unreliable or downright incompetent henchmen stand between you and your dreams of global domination. Post your next job on Nefarious JobNet. Nefarious JobNet: Because your plans have been foiled for the last time.

RUN….RUN….RUN…. Stay as far away from this LA as you physically can until they address the serious failings in the children’s services department of Herefordshire council that go right to the very top!! The ‘professionals’ (I use that word loosely) higher up are selfish, egotistical and manipulative! even after accepting a mountain of failings imposed on a family they continue to make sure everything fits the narrative and agenda they have chosen so that they can continue to hide the severe magnitude of the failings and mess ups that have been and continue to be made. The children are sadly just collateral damage in their mission to hide the truth! They ignore court orders, court approved plans and abuse families that they are meant to support all while turning a blind eye to the abuse children are suffering while in their care! or they make a never ending list of excuses and reasons as to why they missed the abuse that was inflicted on the children while in placement!….There are a few SWs that are genuinely good at their job and are trying to make a difference to the failing and inadequate department within the council but they can only do so much when some of failings are happening because SWs come and go so quickly as they struggle to maintain steady staffing partly because SWs are being over worked, over stretched with extremely high case loads with not enough hours in a day to be able to adequately manage and safe guard all children in their case loads but also because serious failings are happening higher up the career ladder. Then sadly when mistakes are made, failings happen and there is evidence given to support those claims those higher up have no choice but to acknowledge and accept those claims BUT they then very quickly put the blame on the SWs that are on the ‘ground’ trying their best to do the job and working with the families which means they then are the ones that have to face the backlash from the families, those close to the families and the general public are lead to believe that the SWs are the ones to blame for the issues so they become the focus and targets of the frustration, pain and anger……but just like most things you have those that want to help and make the service better you have th other side of workers that don’t have the right intentions. For example one of the SWs in the children with disability team who is actively going behind parents backs encouraging family members to take restraining orders out on the parents even though they have had no contact with them in over 2.5years! Last time I checked if you’re having very minimal to no contact it’s not harassment? Or maybe I have it wrong which means the police officer I spoke to has it wrong as well.

Happy Friday! Here are some helpful tips for completing an application with The County of El Dorado. This information is provided to encourage your full and accurate completion of the application as a key step in the selection process. - Take your time and make sure the application is an accurate representation of your qualifications. - Review the Minimum Qualifications (MQ's) for the position and be sure to demonstrate in your application how you qualify for the position. - While completing your application, keep in mind that the person initially reviewing your application is likely not familiar with your work experience or education. - Provide sufficient details of your duties and responsibilities. Job titles do not tell us about the breadth and depth of your experience. - Include all relevant positions and/or experience in your application. - If multiple positions were held, list each position separately as an individual entry. For example, Social Worker I, II, III would be listed as three different job entries. - Don't use acronyms or slang. Apply for a position today! ✨ https://lnkd.in/gMnsUZC #CountyofElDoradoHR #JobTips
