Pilots of the #A320 have often complained of the noise in the cockpit. The noise is often induced by the Avionics Ventilation System. To enhance cockpit noise reduction through reduced airflow, a Dual Speed Fan was created. This fan features both low and high speed settings and is paired with a Fan Speed Controller (FSC) and Thermal Switch, ensuring the reliability of the computers is not compromised. The FSC regulates the dual-speed fan based on the temperature readings from the Thermal Switch positioned upstream at 80VU. • 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝 activates when the temperature exceeds +40 °C (104 °F). • 𝐋𝐨𝐰 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐝 engages when the temperature falls below +35 °C (95 °F). The dual-speed fan option was designed to reduce noise during ground operations, while its effect during flight is minimal. Ground tests show that this has resulted in significant reduction in noise for the #A320 below 800Hz when switching from high speed to low speed.

Two exceptional pre-owned machines. As much as I like to talk about the value in acquiring older machines that have been fully depreciated, and can be bespoke modernised, I must say that opportunities such as the pair of ex-IBM machines can be difficult to overlook. Both of the examples for sale, a 2010 and a 2011 model #dassaultaviation Falcon 200LX, are superb aircraft that one can guarantee have had the highest level of operational and maintenance oversight, and they are equipped with the latest avionics and a pristine interior. At their age one could still look at high level finance through the likes of Global Jet Capital on an operational lease. This may be helpful as it does allow acquiring an aircraft that may otherwise be outside of the intended budget. This is what I enjoy most about experimental aviation. It's fun to test creative solutions to problems around the cockpit. For example, for the Zenith 650 project, I've been trying to squeeze MFD remote controls, a flaps indicator, and 2-axis trim indicators into the center console. I recently found this thermostat-style encoder dial with an integrated touchscreen. It requires a bit of custom code and some external data acquisition hardware, but it's exactly the solution I need. Instead of just serving as an MFD remote control, it's essentially a secondary "mini" MFD itself. Just turn the dial to change the control and indication functions. Long term, we'll see how rugged it is. This is why they call it "experimental". Zenith Aircraft Company
