June NBRC Ambassador Update: If you know me, you know that I am always eager to learn more. One of my favorite ways to challenge my RT is with the National Board for Respiratory Care - NBRC Credential Maintenance Program (CMP). At my pace, in a non-threatening environment, earning CRCEs for my state license. While practitioners are not required to take these assessments, I highly encourage you to do so for those credentials earned after 2002. It's a fantastic way to showcase your expertise and commitment to excellence in respiratory care. As the field adapts, the questions reflect changes in current practice. Test your knowledge and see how you measure up! #nbrcambassador #continuouslearning #TestYourKnowledge #RespiratoryTherapist

✨In honor of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week I’ll drop some daily knowledge. West Allis Communications Center dispatches police, fire and medical. When we receive a medical call we use Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD). Dispatchers can deliver lifesaving instructions thanks to EMD protocols while an ambulance is en route. All dispatchers are EMD certified. This certification includes the initial 24 hour class followed by continuing education requirements for recertification every 2 years. Callers please be patient with the dispatcher. We are required to ask a series of questions. This may be very frustrating in a high stress situation such as a loved one that has just went unresponsive and not breathing but it’s very important to answer the questions. What's the address of the emergency? What's the phone number you're calling from? Okay, tell me exactly what happened. Are you with the patient now? How old is the patient? Is the patient male or female? Is the patient awake? Is the patient breathing? After identifying the primary medical concern, further questions and/or instructions may be necessary. The quicker you can answer the questions accurately the quicker we can dispatch the best medical units to assist the patient. Happy TC Week! 🖤💛 #NPSTW2024 #IAM911 #911TIPS #THECALL #911PROFESSIONALS #savingliveseveryday #EMD

I was on NTA 2 on Saturday, where i spoke extensively on the importance of life-saving skills with a practical demonstration of CPR. In today's unpredictable world, learning life-saving skills such as CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is crucial for everyone, whether at home, in religious institutions, or workplaces. These skills can mean the difference between life and death during emergencies. CPR is vital because it helps maintain blood flow to the brain and vital organs when someone's heart stops beating. Immediate CPR can double or even triple a victim's chance of survival. The "Chain of Survival" emphasizes the importance of timely intervention: early recognition of cardiac arrest, immediate CPR, rapid defibrillation, and advanced medical care. Each link in this chain is essential for improving survival rates. By equipping ourselves with these skills, we foster a safer environment in our communities. Whether it's a family member, a congregant, or a colleague, being prepared to act can save lives and create a culture of care and responsibility. #thesafetywise #lifesavingskills #emergencyrepomder #cpr #firstaid
