Advanced Aerial Mobility is coming.... with billions of dollars being invested by incumbents and new entrants in the development of air taxi prototypes. ... But once the aircrafts are flying, the missing piece of the ecosystem will be where the aircrafts are landing... Under this proposal, “waterfront sites seem to be one of the most practical solutions to retrofit cities for Advanced Air Mobility, as they provide the safest access for electric air taxis in terms of aviation requirements for clear approach and departure paths.” …. “Waterfront sites are also likely to be one of the few places where land can be found to accommodate terminals and there is also the option for floating landing pads.” The idea here is to create a network of new vertiport hubs in waterfront cities around the world, integrated into the wider system of multimodal mobility. #waterfront #cities #urbanregeneration #urbandevelopment #urbanplanning #innovation #mobility #sustainability

FIA2024: Lilium, Skyports, Sea Milan Airports “to Launch Regional Air Mobility Network in Northern Italy” Lilium, Skyports and Sea Milan Airports (SEA) have announced at the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA), a signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) “to lay the groundwork for the development of a passenger eVTOL network in the Lombardy region of northern Italy,” reports a press release. This region is an important location as it’s home to nearly a fifth of Italy’s population and attracts over 37 million visitors annually. UrbanLink Air Mobility has entered into a partnership with Ferrovial Vertiports to explore the development of sites for #vertiports in key US markets. The vertiports will serve as launchpads for UrbanLink’s cutting edge Lilium Jets and are essential for urban air mobility operations.
