A very good article on upcycling beauty ingredients! Our concern would be myth #3 with the DIY cosmetics picking up momentum: people making beauty products without much knowledgable consideration of the “health & safety” behind it all.

This is a question we ask ourselves every day. The illusion starts there: "Chemical-free", "Organic", "Vegan" and "Crueltyfree" all seem eco-conscious. Where is the line? How to differentiate the real sustainable brands from the others? We asked three sustainable cosmetic leaders on this issue: #teamdrjosep Seed to Skin Tuscany and Rahua Beauty. Here is an inspiring discussion on achieving sustainable beauty. Words: Tolga Rahmalaroglu https://lnkd.in/da_RNWiz

Happy #WorldEnvironmentDay 🌎 World Environment Day highlights the need for sustainability. The beauty industry can switch to plant-based or recycled ingredients, reducing their environmental footprint and meeting consumer demand for eco-friendly products. It's a win for both beauty and the planet. Here are some ways to make your formulations more sustainable: 🌿 Use upcycled ingredients - Ideal for skincare & haircare applications, The Upcycled Beauty Company have an impressive portfolio of actives & ingredients that are made *entirely* from upcycled plant-based leftovers from various by-products of the food and drink industries. Active Concepts are also following the upcycled movement with AC Oleashield which is powered by zero waste spirit and made from upcycled olive leftovers. This zero waste ingredient helps reduce wrinkles and restores skin elasticity. 🌱 Use traceable ingredients - Vantage Specialty Chemicals' ingredient Liponate™ Jojoba 20 is a fully traceable ingredient, all the way from the farm to formulation. It is a multi-functional, oil free emollient that delivers sustained hydration and contributes to restoring skin barrier and protects hair. This COSMOS certified ingredient significantly improves the sensorial profile of a formulation to deliver a great experience in natural formulations. 🍃 Use biotech ingredients - biotech ingredient ALGAKTIV Collage boosts native collagen production in the dermis to renew skin's architecture. It also boosts the skin barrier and water reserves for nourished and hydrated skin. ♻️ Use zero-waste packaging - refillable, upcycled packaging, zero-waste materials, naked packaging. #beautycommunity #beautytrends #formulationsupport #formulators #cosmeticingredients #beauty #personalcare #protection #activeingredients #beautyproducts #sustainable #sustainability #environment

https://lnkd.in/dXpW5kvh The beauty industry is undergoing a profound transformation as sustainability becomes a top priority for both consumers and brands. The rise of eco-friendly cosmetics is reshaping the global market, with more consumers demanding beauty products that are not only effective but also ethical and environmentally responsible. Exporting green beauty products is quickly gaining traction, as businesses pivot toward clean, natural ingredients, cruelty-free formulations, and eco-conscious packaging. These products range from organic skincare lines to vegan makeup options, offering healthier alternatives while reducing the environmental footprint. The demand for green beauty is being driven by a growing awareness of the impact of traditional cosmetics on both personal health and the planet. Consumers are increasingly seeking products that are free from harmful chemicals, packaged in recyclable or biodegradable materials, and produced through sustainable practices. As these values gain global importance, the eco-friendly beauty market presents significant opportunities for exporters to cater to the needs of eco-conscious consumers. This shift is prompting innovation within the beauty industry, with new formulations and packaging solutions emerging to meet the rising demand. Companies are not only focusing on product quality but also ensuring transparency in their sourcing and production processes. The growing trend of exporting eco-friendly cosmetics offers brands the chance to align with the values of sustainability while tapping into a rapidly expanding market. By embracing this movement, businesses can lead the charge in promoting a greener, more ethical future for the beauty industry. #EcoFriendlyCosmetics #GreenBeauty #SustainableBeauty #CleanBeauty #CrueltyFreeCosmetics

If you’re looking to go green with your skincare, one of the first places to start is by looking at the packaging of your products (and not just to see if they’re recyclable, but do that, too!), I’m talking about the ingredients list. Hydroquinone is a very effective skin lightener, but has been linked to cancer in several studies. I like to swap out products that use hydroquinone with similarly effective botanical formulas that contain bearberry, licorice, and Indian gooseberry. Also, palm Oil has become a bit of a darling in the natural skincare and health food markets, but it’s one of the main causes of deforestation in Asia, which contributes to greenhouse gasses and the destruction of the only remaining Orangutan habitat. Are you making any conscious decisions to lessen the impact for your skin or beauty routine? Share away!
