A real life cosmetics company recently conducted a focus group for their products. It was found during that focus group that consumers have a strong preference towards eco-friendly cosmetics. I fine tuned a model on that focus group data along with a bunch of other data I have been accumulating. Then, I asked the model to simulate a follow up focus group to the real life one, this one drilling into the exact consumer preferences regarding eco-friendly cosmetics.

Is the 1% Labeling Rule really Truth In Beauty?
Today, I attended The Ecowell's Truth In Beauty e-Summit featuring an excellent panel of speakers addressing various issues surrounding misinformation in cosmetics.
From product claims to misinformation about preservatives, the presentations were insightful, illuminating and highlighted how misinformation can actually lead to cosmetic products that are less safe.

In that context, it would be very interesting to have a panel discussion on the 1% Labeling Rule in the US and EU that allows ingredients included at 1% or less to be listed in any order regardless of the actual rate of inclusion.
LATAM (Latin America) countries require that ingredients be declared in descending order of inclusion by weight, period. This is much more transparent to consumers.
The question is: Is the 1% Labeling Rule really Truth In Beauty?

Making Cosmetics 2024, Milano
The 11th edition of #MakingCosmetics concluded successfully with 4,472 visitors and a significant growth of 16% increase in exhibition space and 31 new exhibitors from the previous edition. The event consolidated their position among the most relevant events nationwide and beyond. The excellent turnout confirms the central role of #MakingCosmetics as reference platforms for innovation and collaboration and the historical reactivity of the italian cosmetics industry even in the face of very accelerated dynamics, both in terms of the economic context and with reference to the evolution of demand.
An economic analysis by Cosmetica Italia - associazione nazionale imprese cosmetiche shows that, the closing projections for 2024 show a turnover value of cosmetic companies exceeding 16.7 billion euros (+10.5% compared to 2023) and a forecast for 2025 of 18 billion euros (+8% compared to 2024).

According to the survey results on preferred makeup brands, Lakme India emerged as the top choice, with 19.33% of respondents favoring it, followed closely by another traditional brand Maybelline New York at 18.10%.
Next on the list, new-age brands RENÉE Cosmetics and SUGAR Cosmetics are also gaining traction, with 15.97% and 15.37% of consumers preferring them, respectively.
