🎀 Raksha Bandhan: A Commitment to True Protection and Justice 🎀 As we celebrate Raksha Bandhan—a day symbolizing protection, love, and care—let’s take a moment to reflect on what true protection really means in today’s society. It’s not enough to simply tie a rakhi and promise safety. What does that promise mean if we don’t stand up for justice when it truly matters? Recent incidents, like the tragic and horrifying injustice faced by Moumita and her family, remind us that our society has a long way to go when it comes to protecting women. 💔 No More Empty Promises: It’s time we demand strict action and stringent punishment for those who commit heinous crimes like rape. Candles and silent marches are no longer enough. We need swift justice, not only to honor the victims but to deter future crimes. 🔥 Our Commitment Should Be: • Advocating for the strongest legal actions and reforms that ensure rapists face the harshest penalties, with no delays or loopholes. • Supporting survivors and their families in their fight for justice, ensuring their voices are heard and their suffering is acknowledged. • Raising awareness and creating a culture where every woman feels safe, respected, and valued—where safety isn’t a privilege but a basic right. On this Raksha Bandhan, let’s not just talk about protection within our homes; let’s demand protection, respect, and justice for every woman in our society. Justice for Moumita isn’t just a slogan—it’s a call for change. Let’s be the generation that doesn’t just speak out, but acts decisively against those who perpetuate violence. #RakshaBandhan #JusticeForMoumita #EndRapeCulture #SwiftJustice #StandAgainstViolence #SafetyAndRespect

No Raksha Without Real Safety !! Raksha Bandhan is supposed to be about brothers promising to protect their sisters. But how can we promise protection when our sisters aren't safe anywhere? We fought hard for our country’s freedom. So why can’t we fight just as hard for our sisters’ safety? It’s not fair that they have to live in fear. Instead of empty promises, let’s work together to build a world where everyone feels safe. That’s the real Raksha Bandhan, don’t you think? #RakshaBandhan #WomensSafety #SafetyForAll

Rakshabandhan is a festival where a sister ties a sacred thread on her brother's wrist, symbolizing a bond of protection. The word "Rakshabandhan" merges "Raksha" (protection) with "Bandhan" (bond). But if protection is the goal, why must it come with a binding? Can Raksha not exist without a Bandhan? Let’s rethink this tradition—removing the invisible constraints placed on our sisters so they can fly freely. Shouldn’t they be empowered to protect themselves? I wonder, do they truly need our protection, or is this bond a subtle way to limit their freedom under the guise of care? Are they unaware of the invisible shackles we impose, preventing them from realizing their full potential? If we have been promising to protect our sisters for decades, then why are they still vulnerable, fearful on the streets, in buses, trains, schools, hospitals, sports, and beyond? If these threats persist, perhaps it’s time for them to stop expecting protection from us. Instead, they must learn to protect themselves. Let’s break these bonds and allow our sisters to soar on their own terms, fully capable of their own defense. True Raksha lies in empowering them to be fearless and independent. #HappyRakshabandhan #EliminateViolanceAgainstWomen #GenderEquality #GenderEquity

14-yr-old girl raped by teacher in 2023 dies after months of treatment in UP To quote Mahatma Gandhi: "The greatness of humanity is not in being human, but in being humane". The outrage on Kolkata case has brought back the focus on women safety in the country and rightfully so. There is an urgent need to call out toxic masculinity and teach our boys that MARD stands for “ Men Against Rape and Discrimination “ Horrific but true - we are a country where 90 rapes are reported a day and then comes a Nirbhaya or the Kolkata victim news that shakes the collective consciousness of the nation and jolts us into action. We need more than a knee-jerk response and social activism to prevent atrocities against our women We need to educate our boys to respect women and their consent - NO means NO. That’s the long and short of it and anyone violating the wish of a woman must be given a punishment that serves as a spine chilling example of anyone thinking of violating a woman’s personal space. A 14 year old being brutalised - this is grotesque and gut churning. A milieu where women aren’t safe can’t celebrate #womensafety #culture #menagainstrape #manipal #biomedicalengineering #nomeansno
