Super excited to announce that we received a multimillion support from the Planning and Budgeting Committee to build a national One-Lab initiative for #MultiOmics studies. The consortium is led by the team of Admon Arie of the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology and include scientists and heads of analytical core infrastructures from the Thechnion, from the University of Haifa and from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. At BGU the team is formed by Efrat Forti and Vered Chalifa-Caspi of the Research Support Laboratories of Ilse Katz Institute for Nano-Science and Technology and myself at The Jacob Blaustein Institutes for Desert Research (BIDR) .

ICYMI: The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded a $1.75 million grant to a research team led by Associate Professors Bryan R. Goldsmith and Nirala Singh. 💡 In November 2024, the Independent Science for Development Council (ISDC) finalized its review of the CGIAR 2025-30 Research and Innovation Portfolio.    As part of ISDC’s terms of reference, ISDC provided feedback in 2024 on both the draft and final versions of the Portfolio Narrative, the companion document that serves as the roadmap for the portfolio. He was able to highlight the grid couplings’s unique properties of non-linear stiffness, damping, vibration absorption and torsional shock absorption, which are essential aspects for our customers' most demanding industrial processes. ▶️The publication of a scientific paper in the coming months will complement this conference, and the continuation of this scientific work will enable new technological solutions to be developed in the future. ⚙️At CMD, research and development are at the heart of our activities ! 🔬 Tradition Meets Innovation: Prof. Dr. Walter Leitner at the 133rd Society of German Natural Scientists and Physicians (GDNÄ) meeting 🔬 Since its founding in 1822, the Society of German Natural Scientists and Physicians (GDNÄ) has served as a prestigious forum for interdisciplinary scientific exchange in Germany, bringing together pioneers across fields to address key societal challenges. I am happy to share that our latest research article "A Fully Integrated x4 Voltage Converter for Monolithic Photodiode Light Harvesting" has just been published in IEEE Access! This article is the result of several years of research at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), started by Jordi Madrenas and Daniel Fernandez, that I continued during my thesis as a side project. However, this research did not really take off until Sasan Nikseresht started his PhD thesis on the topic, also supervised by Jordi Cosp. This article has been published after doing prototypes with several technologies and designing various versions until solving the issues and performance limitations encountered along the path. In the manuscript we show how we designed a fully integrated #PMIC that is capable of harvesting energy from light using monolithic PV cells, and pump the voltage in an uncomplicated yet efficient way. This research opens the door to several posibilities: from having miniaturized battery-less sensors for the #IoT to having pad-less chips capable of working wirelessly, among hundreds of other applications. Technopolis helped the Austrian Science Fund FWF improve the Emerging Fields programme funding processes to identify original, innovative, paradigm-shifting research proposals.    We delivered an accompanying process evaluation of the programme processes to critically review the process end-to-end📈, identify strengths and weaknesses in design💪, and provide evidence-based recommendations to the FWF and its supervisory bodies on improving processes for the next EF call📊.  FWF has published a plan to implement our recommendations: https://lnkd.in/d9HP8ZsS Our findings show that the #EmergingFields programme positioning and three-stage assessment process are well-designed and attract highly novel proposals. We provided recommendations to improve the transparency of the process. The evaluation approach employed a mix of methods - a desk review, application analysis, observation of hearings and jury meetings, surveys, interviews, and in-depth bibliometric and text analysis of applications. The latter used a novel approach to construct novelty indicators and assess the originality of applications.    Curious about the other insights?
