Words—they’re more than what we speak or write. They’re the architects of our beliefs, the framework of our choices, and the echoes of our past that can keep us stuck. The energy of your words holds the power to keep you tethered to limiting beliefs, drawing in the weight of your past, and leaving you out of alignment with the present moment. But here’s the magic: the future hasn’t arrived yet. As Rumi said, “Don’t get lost in your pain, know that one day your pain will become your cure.” When you learn to harness the power of your words, you open the door to rewriting your story with clarity, passion, and purpose. Let’s prepare to celebrate International Women’s Day in the most empowering way possible—together, in the City of Lights. Whilst national and regional governing administrations continue to fail dramatically to ensure our communities can thrive, women and women's organisations are the vanguard for humanity and social change. Up and down the country, women’s collective work saves women’s lives and supports them to navigate a hostile environment and thrive. We build solutions together on shoestring budgets! Imagine what we could do collectively with just a fraction of the billions of pounds our so-called leaders hold the purse strings of. Now more than ever, after decades of underinvestment, punitive policy making and the staggering impoverishment of women, children and communities, we know that it’s only us together who can build, maintain and empower ourselves and our communities. We must put down the patriarchal state-driven narrative that we are not worthy, we are not capable, and we are powerless. We are actually powerful and dangerous, as Audre Lorde says. Our Women's Sector Leadership Conference next week will demonstrate our ability to come together to create lasting change and embolden us to continue leading the way. The conference is designed to provide attendees with practical tools, innovative solutions, and radical ideas to advance economic justice and financial independence in their communities. We aim to foster new partnerships and collaborations, encouraging the sharing of knowledge, ideas, and best practices. Through in-depth discussions on current policy issues, particularly financial justice, we seek to build sector-wide agreements and actions. Our goal is for attendees to leave feeling empowered to realise their own leadership potential, equipped to be changemakers, and confident in daring to lead. This year, we are in Manchester in partnership with sister orgs, who, despite years of lack of recognition, continue to be at the forefront of change. We honour and celebrate them in particular, along with all the women who will be joining us from across the country. When I say the words Women Empowering Women and Kamala Harris, what comes to mind for you? For me, Kamala Harris is all about empowering women. Harris's fact sheet says she launched Global Initiatives on Economic Empowerment of Women, totaling over $1 billion. The Biden-Harris Administration is committed to ensuring women are prepared for, and part of, the industries of the future. Also, Vice President Harris announced the launch of the Women in the Sustainable Economy (WISE) Initiative, which aims to bolster women's economic empowerment globally by expanding access to employment, training, leadership roles, and financial resources in the industries critical to our future and the future of our planet. She will do this through three key pillars" 1. Promoting well-paying, quality jobs for women in energy. land and water use and management.....needed to compete and safely work. 2. Supporting women-owned, led, and managed businesses in energy, land, and water use....Opportunities and technical assistance. 3. Eliminating barriers to women's economic participation in energy, land, water use, and management by accessing girl's access to (STEM).

Yesterday I spoke in The Ambitious Women’s Forum on a topic close to my heart: Embracing Ambition Without Shame. 🌟 We explored the unique challenges ambitious women face, like societal expectations, guilt, and self-doubt and how these can hold us back from fully stepping into our potential. I shared strategies for setting boundaries, aligning goals with personal values, and reframing negative thoughts into empowering ones. One of the most moving moments was reflecting on how ambition, when embraced positively, can create meaningful change and inspire the people around us including our families. 💪💡 The discussion was powerful, proving once again that showing up is what truly matters. 💬 If you’ve ever struggled with balancing ambition and self-doubt or setting boundaries that honour your personal and professional goals, I’d love for you to join us at the next forum! What an honor it was to host this month’s Women’s Catalyst Circle event on Wednesday at the Maryland Innovation Center. This circle experience: The Presence of Your Power: The Power of Your Presence, brought women together to tap into their power and presence. In a world that’s calling for women to step out boldly, having these conversations around power—what it means, how we express it, and the limiting beliefs that hold us back—feels more urgent than ever. One of the most striking takeaways for me was this: when asked to name powerful women who inspire us, many of us struggled to come up with names. It’s not because these women don’t exist, but because the narrative around women and power is still so underdeveloped. This reminded me why it’s essential for each of us to build our own power muscles—not just for ourselves, but to inspire those around us. And it was one of the action steps I had each attendee take! We’re in a season where women’s rights are being challenged, where progress feels like it’s stalling—or even moving backward. This is the time for us to use our voices and our messages as power tools. To stand firm in who we are and what we believe. To refuse to be silenced. We are the leaders we’ve been waiting for. And every time we show up in our fullness—our power, our presence, and our truth—we light the way for others to do the same. To everyone who joined this event: thank you for bringing your courage, insights, and energy. Looking back at the many pivotal moments in my life, there has always been another woman cheering me on, speaking truth I needed to hear, offering a different perspective, or simply shining her own light so I could see the next step on my own path. Women are good like that. Throughout the first half of this year, I have connected with a whole new group of women--women who, like me, are finding a new way to do business and life. Women who are no longer willing to go through life in line with patriarchal, capitalistic ways of viewing the world. Women who value generosity, reciprocity, and expansion--not just for themselves, but for all. Next week, this group is hosting a free, 3-day summit for women who are ready to do business differently. Not just women business owners or entrepreneurs--it's definitely for you if you're in that category--but for all women who are in business. Leaders, Subject Matter Experts, Fledgling Career Pivoters, Retired Women, Women Whose Work Is In The Home...for all of us!
