INCLUSIVE JUSTICE: SUPREME COURT PRIORITIZES HEALTH EVALUATION IN LATE-TERM PREGNANCY DECISIONS In a groundbreaking verdict, the Supreme Court has emphasized the crucial role of medical boards in assessing the health of pregnant individuals seeking termination beyond 24 weeks. 🤰⚖️ Here's the gist: · The Court stressed the necessity for the medical board to evaluate both physical and mental health, even in the absence of substantial fetal abnormalities. · Citing Section 3(2B) of the MTP Act, the judgment highlights that termination can proceed if the board deems it necessary for the person's health, irrespective of fetal conditions. · Criticizing a previous case's oversight, the Court emphasized the board's obligation to assess the impact of pregnancy on the individual's well-being. · Upholding fundamental rights, the Court reaffirmed reproductive autonomy, dignity, and privacy, stressing that any delays shouldn't compromise these rights. · Remember, the right to choose and reproductive freedom is enshrined in Article 21 of the Constitution! https://lnkd.in/eFw4a6sZ In a poignant twist, the Court acknowledged the individual's right to decide the fate of their pregnancy, honoring their autonomy above all else. 💪 #LegalRights #ReproductiveHealth #SupremeCourtRuling

NATAL CARES INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR MATERNAL HEALTH AND RIGHTS April 11 is the International Day for Maternal Health and Rights. Globally, 800 women die each day from preventable causes due to pregnancy and childbirth. Improving maternal health outcomes and preventing maternal deaths requires a human rights-based approach that protects a person’s right to survive childbirth, to access high-quality health care, to government accountability, to equity and non-discrimination when accessing care, and to family planning and contraception. Enshrining these rights for all pregnant people is key to meaningful progress towards the prevention of maternal deaths globally. At NATAL CARES, Our Vision is simple: CRUSH MATERNAL AND INFANT MORTALITY and We are not Joking at all.
