Let's face it: the film business is tough as nails, and it feels even tougher these days. What I love most—making movies—is something I’ve had to put on pause. It’s not the lack of creativity holding me back; it’s the challenge of distribution, or rather, self-distribution, that leaves me deeply disillusioned. I don’t know when things will improve for independent filmmakers. But one truth I’ve come to realize is this: a single voice can be hard to hear in a sea of hopefuls. A collective voice, however? That’s a whole other story. This realization is why I started WISE (Women in Showbiz Everywhere). I’m not just a founder—I’m a woman filmmaker, just like many others, trying to create my space and connect with an audience. But I’ve learned the hard way. Twice bitten, I’ve decided that I won’t make my second directorial feature unless I’m confident that I can turn my love for filmmaking into a sustainable business. One where I can thrive—and finally tell my mom, “Hey, I did it!” This is where I need your help. Support our mission with WISE. Together, we can make the film industry a more equitable space for women and underrepresented artists. Join the WISE family, be part of a community, let's grow together and become a collective voice that demands and drives change! Join our #OpenTheDoor fundraiser and help amplify our collective voice: 👉 https://lnkd.in/gccMnixv Thank you for being part of this journey. Let’s make an impact, together.

E.l.f. Cosmetics Takes the Lead: Empowering Women at the Indy 500 E.l.f. Cosmetics' decision to host a branded experience at the Indianapolis 500, focusing on championing women race car drivers and expanding their partnership with Katherine Legge, can be attributed to several strategic marketing goals. This partnership helps differentiate E.l.f. Cosmetics from other beauty brands. Aligning with a high-energy, prestigious event like the Indianapolis 500 and emphasizing support for women in this arena presents the brand as bold, inclusive, and supportive of breaking barriers, which can enhance brand perception and loyalty. Promoting women race car drivers aligns with empowerment and breaking gender stereotypes, which resonates well with contemporary consumer values, especially among younger demographics who prioritize social responsibility in the brands they support. On Thursday, June 06, Francina Phillips and I began working on this pitch for the WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) and Youth To The People we gave ourselves one week to research and create. It wasn't until last Thursday that we realized that Youth to the People and the Seattle Storm already had a partnership, so we were back on the drawing board; within five days, we had put together this pitch deck specifically for the Seattle Storm and Youth to the People. After numerous brainstorming sessions, we wanted to create a Kit that the Seattle Storm and Youth to the People could collaborate on. We named it Glow Together, an initiative that unites skincare and sports to advocate and champion social justice and equality. ✨ Glow Together Kit: At the heart of this campaign is the Glow Together Kit, a specially curated collection designed to support healthy, glowing skin for athletes and everyone in the community. 🌍 Kicks for Equality Fundraiser: This campaign supports the Kicks for Equality fundraiser, driving effective change through collective action. 🤝Partnership: This partnership showcases the incredible synergy between Youth to the People's commitment to skincare and the Seattle Storm's dedication to community and equality. Together, they are not just promoting great skin and athletic excellence but fostering a movement for change and unity. 🤝 Community Engagement: Launching the Glow Together Group Chat on [Genva, Facebook, Try Your Best, or Discord], creating a dedicated space for our communities to connect, share, and support each other. 🏀 Visual Concept: Imagine the Seattle Storm in an intense game, starting in black and white. As they pass the ball and work together, they transform into vibrant colors, symbolizing the power of unity. This powerful visual metaphor highlights that, just like skincare products, every player is essential for achieving greatness. #GlowTogether #CommunityEngagement #YouthToThePeople #SeattleStorm #SkincareAndSports #KicksForEquality #WNBA #basketball #sports

Please like and share, if you can donate the price of a cup of coffee or a pint, or any donation that will aid us to create this dynamic and inclusive space to support ideas and artists to thrive. Nasty Gallery is a not for profit female led initiative who’s ultimate aim is to provide a permanent and safe space for women in the arts. “78 percent of the galleries represent more men than women, while only 5 per cent represent an equal number of male and female artists. And beyond the statistics, women artists and curators face unique challenges, from the subjects they bring to light to the work they choose to present”- Tate Modern Our intention is to bring exhibitions, performance, spoken word and debate via exciting and thought provoking events. We are currently unfunded, but on it. Our mission is to secure a permanent space. We need to raise £15k to get match funding in order to achieve our goal. We are currently raising what we can from running workshops and pop up events. All of the team volunteer their time and more often than not, their money, so, in order to help us to keep on keeping on and press forward with providing quality underrepresented women a spot to shine, we would be very grateful if you could support us by making a donation of any amount or by purchasing our merchandise. All profit goes into continuing our events and crucially, towards finding a permanent home. How Nasty Gallery started After Trump was elected for presidency in 2017, women artists and curators started an art exhibit staged as a visual protest. More than 700 female-identifying artists contributed works to the show, which was named after the slur that Trump called Clinton a “Nasty Woman” in the third presidential debate. It’s a powerful callback to the misogynistic messaging of Trump’s campaign, and a demonstration of solidarity among artists worldwide. It was then that Nasty Women London was born, this world wide movement was a fundraiser for different charities supporting women worldwide. Women are still fighting this battle now in 2024 with the recent win for Trump winning the presidential election a second time round. History that has repeated once again! This has formed Nasty Gallery to keep pushing for women's rights, and providing a space for unrepresented women in the arts, from graduates, to mothers trying to get back into the art scene and also women artists who are retired, we want to give a space for women to have a voice, to exhibit art and performance. to find out more please visit our website: nasty gallery dot co dot uk https://gofund.me/4aab3543 #supportthearts, #artforchange #NastyGallery, #GenderEquality, #FemaleLeadership)
