🔶 Engaging men to end violence against women 🔶 Violence against women is not just a women’s issue – it’s a societal issue. At Women for Women International, we are convinced that creating safer, more equitable communities requires the active participation of everyone, including men. Through our Men’s Engagement Program, we work with men in conflict-affected areas to challenge harmful gender norms, encourage respectful behavior, and foster healthier relationships. By tackling the root causes of gender-based violence, men become allies in building a world where women can live equally and in safety. In this year’s #16DaysOfActivism, let’s remember: true change happens when we come together to challenge inequality and dismantle the systems that perpetuate violence. #EndViolenceAgainstWomen #MensEngagement #GenderEquality #SupportWomen #EndVAW #NoExcuse #16Days #EliminationOfViolenceAgainstWomen

I recently attended a Male engagement symposium hosted by FIDA Uganda which discussed the pros and cons of male engagement in the fight against GBV. The statistics offered by Women for Women International in this post have helped shed more light on not only how possible it is to have positive male engagement but that the fight against GBV needs to include men through education systems so they can learn the dangers of GBV and the role they can play to combat it

Violence against women isn’t just another problem to solve—it’s a mindset difference. For too long, we've treated gender inequality and violence as separate, isolated issues. But the truth is, they stem from the same place: a belief that women are somehow less deserving of respect, safety, and autonomy. The real challenge isn’t only about changing laws or enforcing policies; it’s about transforming how we fundamentally view women. It’s about how we see them, treat them, and value their voices. When we start with the mindset shift where we teach respect, equality and consent from a young age—we’re not just stopping violence, we’re preventing it before it even starts. On this International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, let’s not only fight violence but actively shape a future where respect, safety, and equality for women are the standards, not exceptions. #WomensRights #GenderEquality #SocialJustice #PolicyChange #EndViolence #WomenSafety

Today, I join the world in commemorating the #16DaysofActivism—a global movement calling on society to take a stand and demand action to end violence against women. As the founder of ARISE Women's Business Initiative, I witness daily the devastating socioeconomic and emotional impacts of gender-based violence. This reality affects not only individuals but entire communities, stifling progress and robbing countless women of their dignity and opportunities. This campaign is a call to action for us all, but especially for men, to be part of the solution. It's time to challenge harmful gender norms and cultivate an environment where women feel safe and empowered. So, I ask you: How can men actively step up to challenge gender-based violence? Are you courageous enough to break the silence and stand with women? Let us be the voices that inspire real, lasting change—because together, we can build a safer, more inclusive society for everyone. #16DaysOfActivism24 #YALI16DaysofActivism

In Australia, 70 women have lost their lives to femicide this year alone. Men have a vital role in preventing violence against women. Breaking cycles of violence and transforming gender norms is a role that everyone, especially men, can take part in. This is key to building a culture of respect and equality across society. Organisations and leaders who allow disrespect to flourish play a role in this broader societal issue. So, what now? • Male leaders, I’m calling on you: Shine the light in the right place. • Educate yourself and others on what not to do. • Set the standard for respect in your workplace every day —not just during IWD • Become allies who call out bad behaviour and amplify women’s voices. It starts with men. So does change. Will you be part of the solution? How is your workplace addressing disrespect toward women? If it’s not, let’s talk. #ItStartsWithMen #GenderEquality #16DaysOfActivism #WorkplaceCulture Graphic from Our Watch

📣🟣 Today, we stand united with voices around the world on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. This day calls attention to the urgent need to confront and stop the countless forms of gender-based violence impacting millions of women and girls globally. Gender-based violence is perpetuated not only by individual actions but also by systemic structures that marginalize women, exclude them from leadership, and silence their input in creating solutions. When women, in all their diversity, take part in decision-making spaces, they bring unique perspectives and lead transformative changes that break down the patriarchal systems driving inequality and violence. ⚖️ Women are the key to meaningful and sustainable progress—in addressing the root causes of gender-based violence and discrimination, in building equitable institutions, and in creating a just future for the rights and needs of all women and girls. Gender parity is essential to addressing today’s pressing challenges and ensuring that women are at the forefront of their solutions. At GQUAL, we are committed to not only amplifying the voices, rights, and aspirations of women, but also guaranteeing that they are acted upon. #25N #NoExcuse
