I am excited to share my rewarding experience as a mentor in Researchers Beyond Academia by EURAXESS mentorship program. Heartfelt gratitude to Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología, FECYT and EURAXESS Spain for successfully organizing the 3rd edition of this program. This global initiative welcomes individuals in STEM fields and offers a mutually beneficial experience for mentors and mentees. Look out for their next call! A special shoutout to my mentee, Carla Blanco Ameneiros, for her proactive attitude, eagerness to implement our discussions, and positive approach towards navigating career decisions. Working with Carla has been enriching and educational for me, and I am grateful for the opportunity. ¡I share with you my latest contribution, an article on open innovation in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs)! The study titled "Open Innovation Bootcamp in Higher Education Institutions: An Experience through Territory-Based Challenge-Based Learning" analyzes the benefits and impacts of open innovation bootcamps, focusing on the experience carried out at the University of Antioquia. This innovative approach provides a conducive environment for tackling challenges identified in the territory, involving students in the creation of effective solutions. The results revealed that teamwork was the most developed competency among participants, underscoring the importance of collaboration in the innovation process. This study highlights the significance of understanding regional challenges and generating effective solutions, which contributes to the comprehensive development of local communities. We kicked off the #EducationInnovationTour on Monday here in Spain, alongside an exciting lineup of leading education institutions and partners from Latin America and Europe. Our objective is to help universities leverage digital innovation to reach their goals in a more impactful way. Why is this critical today? Technology has altered the higher education landscape, and traditional models are failing to address the challenges of the digital era, including equipping learners to find rewarding jobs. Currently, 25% of the skills required for jobs have changed since 2015, leaving 75% of employers scrambling to fill open positions. The need for new learning models has never been more urgent.
