Great piece from Jen Mair, Chair of Future Asset in The Times on the role Future Asset is playing in supporting more women into investment management. It’s crucial that we continue to develop more pathways and break down barriers for under-represented groups in financial services and SFE are committed to supporting initiatives such as Future Asset in order to achieve this. How many of us are invested in funds or companies we don’t know much about? Or worse—how many of us are unknowingly invested in industries that harm people, damage the planet, or go against the issues we care deeply about? Why do we invest this way? Because we’ve been told this is just how investing works. We worry about risking returns if we change course, or it feels like one more overwhelming thing to figure out. But it doesn’t have to be this way. In fact, study after study proves that you can achieve strong returns while making a difference. And at IFB, we have a community of over 1,000 women dedicated to doing just that. Join our upcoming event with Janine Firpo, co-founder of IFB, to learn how to grow your wealth while staying true to your values. With a range of free resources on values-aligned investing, we’ll help you take control of your money—and ensure it’s working for the world you want to create. Had an amazing time at a session on female investing yesterday with Female Invest! Did you know only 24% of women feel financially confident compared to 34% of men? Thanks, Investec, for that eye-opener. It’s clear we need to change the game. One key takeaway: having a diversified portfolio is crucial. For those just starting out, investing in funds and stocks is a smart move. Deborah Meaden shared some great tips: - Invest in products and services you believe in - Have a plan - Understand the terminology Let’s work towards boosting financial confidence for everyone! 💪📈 #FemaleInvesting #FinancialConfidence #InvestmentTips #DiversifyYourPortfolio

Women are controlling ever-greater sums of money around the world, setting the stage for major shifts in wealth management and philanthropy. In the US alone, McKinsey expects women to control $34 trillion—roughly 38%—of investable assets by 2030, close to double last year’s total. The figure was just $7.3 trillion 10 years ago. https://buff.ly/3BmlGCk

As someone who works in the GTM, VC and Private Equity space I am thrilled to see that the Invest in Women Taskforce have exceeded their funding target. (Target was £250 million). It's crucial because I see first hand the lack of all-female founded businesses receiving funding. Debbie Wosskow, OBE pointed out that they receive around 1.8% of total funding. And to make things worse this has decreased since 2023. Why should we care?? - To put it simply its SHOULD be equal, we shouldn't even need to be speaking about this - To educate and draw awareness e.g., to investors - It would help boost the economy - To boost innovation, so opens us more opportunities for investors - Encourages / gives confidence to more women to take the step in starting their own businesses Let's hope other companies follow in the footsteps of Morgan Stanley, Barclays and Aviva to support female founders and boost investment! This is a good start, but that's just it.....it's a START!! Let's hope we see a rise in funding for female founders across 2025 and beyond because the current stats are shocking. #FemaleFounders #Funding #WomenInBusiness #InvestInWomenTaskforce #Investment

Not the usual #InternationalWomensDay2024 post.... We had "good news" this week. In the #budget the Chancellor announced a reversal to the increase in thresholds for angel investors with effect from 27th March. Much has been written over the last few weeks about how the increase would negatively impact female and underrepresented groups in angel investing. Why then was this decision ever made? Who was around the table? Why are impacts on women often an afterthought? 🤔 Across the country just 14% of Angel Investors are female. 🙄 A stat which shows just how much work there is to do in this space. We know that 25-50% of a female angel's portfolio is made up of female founded companies. If we want to see more female founded companies get funding ( 📢 spoiler alert - we do!) then we need to encourage more females into angel investing. The more females we see getting funded, the more we will see coming out as successful exited entrepreneurs with the capacity to invest in other women. We need to build that virtuous circle and we need to do this by encouraging more women into angel investing. 😇 Hannah Smith Anglia Capital Group #IWD2024 #AngelInvesting
