"The Arctic is warming three to four times faster than other regions of the world, but climate action and green transition must not become a new form of colonization. Solutions and the implementation of them must happen in equal and respectful partnerships with the indigenous peoples of the world,” stated our Award recipient - Sara Olsvig, International Chair, Inuit Circumpolar Council, Greenland last year at Womenomics 2023. The intersection of climate change and DE&I is fundamental, as the impacts of environmental changes disproportionately affect marginalized communities, highlighting the importance of inclusive and equitable solutions. Progress in combating climate change requires integrating the voices and knowledge of those most affected, ensuring that the path forward respects all stakeholders and contributes to a just and sustainable future for our planet. To learn more about the power of inclusion and 'Cultural Transformation - Delivering Real Impact', join us at the Womenomics 2024 Global DE&I Summit. The climate crisis is far from being gender-neutral. Focusing on climate change alone without recognizing its connection to gender runs the risk of exacerbating the social inequalities faced by women, girls, trans- and non-binary people. In our conversations with Unconform, Mansi Gupta, Theodora Gibbs, Sana Kapadia, and Sabrina Meherally we spoke about the importance of applying a gender lens to our climate action work. We covered a range of topics and takeaways which included: 💰 Gender Smart Investing: Gender smart investing plays a critical role in building stronger and more resilient systems. By incorporating a gender lens, we can uncover unique opportunities and potential challenges that a narrow perspective might easily miss. This leads to a more thorough evaluation of risks, making investments less vulnerable to unexpected shocks. 🔍 Unstacking Lenses: The interconnectedness of climate change can be overwhelming to consider from all perspectives. Instead of stacking lenses into our design, take a step back and reimagine design perspectives that are often narrow and rigid, and make them wider at the margins. This idea highlights the importance of considering the experiences and viewpoints of individuals and communities who are often overlooked or excluded from mainstream discourse. 🌳 Unearthing Creativity & Challenging Colonialism: To effectively dismantle systems and design for meaningful climate action, we must start by questioning why we do what we do and challenge the underlying assumptions and biases that have been ingrained in our practices over time. Nearly two weeks ago, while a cloud of smoke covered the sky above my home in São Paulo, I was in New York attending the workshop "The Most Important Brief", a collaborative briefing developed by the Earth Public Information Collaborative (EPIC) at the United Nations and Horizon Media. The goal? To develop a global campaign to drive cultural change in favour of sustainability and climate action. 🌎 🌿 It was a huge honour to be invited, and an even greater responsibility. This campaign is set to launch in 2025 and aims to open new opportunities for transformation. The idea is to have a single message that can be adapted to different realities and issues, engaging everyone: citizens, governments, and industries. Sounds easy, right? Creating a message that helps accelerate the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy, encourages industries to rethink and transform their practices, and inspires people to change their daily habits through education and new options. 🤯 It’s far from simple, especially considering the situation in Brazil, where we are allowing the destruction of what we hold most dear: our forests, natural resources, and the people who inhabit them with their unique ancestral knowledge. Those days in New York were intense, surrounded by incredible creatives, scientists, and strategists, all united for a cause that encompasses everything, because without a healthy planet, there isn’t much left to fight for. It was an emotional experience, and it was beautiful to see how powerful and strong we become when we come together with such care and love. Much hope, much to be done. This week, Natalia Vega, Executive Director of New Zero World and Leader of the Global Campaign at EPIC, along with her amazing team, will shine at the #ClimateWeekNYC, heading towards the COP30. Here and around the world, we’ll be holding our breath, hoping for an epic event that marks a vital step towards urgent climate action. Thank you ❤️ , Natalia Vega, Nicol Ruiz, Christopher Moscardi, Aurelia W., Dan Burrier, Érica Rigobello 🏳️🌈, Angerson Vieira✊🏾, Fabio Pacheco, Gustavo Lauria, Camila Rodrigues de Souza, Sara Worthington, Emma Riley, Tescia Deák, Ali Rez, Patrick LaBelle, Karen Short, Sebastian Lyman, Shyla Raghav, Oscar Salazar.

🚨 France 2040: The Critical Path Ahead The latest report from the Fondation Jean Jaurès - Jean Jaurès Stiftung - Jean Jaurès foundation - Jean Jaurès Stichting reveals unsettling yet crucial insights about our potential future. Two Potential Futures: 🤝🏽🌍 Alpha Future: A society that prioritizes collective well-being, cohesion, and protection of the vulnerable. Here, political authorities play a pivotal role in curbing inequality and moderating economic influence. 💸🔗 Omega Future: A society dominated by market forces and money, where the state is powerless, and inequality spirals into fragmentation and overreliance on unsustainable technology. I made my choice. Key Takeaways: 🙌🏻 Collective Action is Essential: Our future is not set in stone. We still have the power to shape it through decisive collective action. 🌟 💔 Embracing Sobriety: The concept of living with less is challenging, yet it’s crucial for bridging societal divides. Sobriety isn't about regression; it's about reconnecting with what truly matters—relationships, passions, and nature. 🍃 ⚡ Adaptation & Mitigation: You can’t pick one or the others, both are interlinked now, and we need to address them both. 🌍 Climate Debate Evolution: The conversation has shifted from questioning the reality of climate change (it’s real!) to debating the urgency of action versus a gradual transition. We can’t afford delays given the accelerating damage to ecosystems. ⏳🔥 It’s not just about what we do, but how we do it. And the choices we make today will shape not just the next 20 years, but the generations to come. 👇 Report below cc daphni #ClimateAction #France2040 #Sustainability #FutureIsNow

Dear Community! It's a pleasure and honour to be part of the speakers of this incredible group of Women and Climate, all actively collaborating to drive change and uplift our society. Each one of us brings a unique set of experiences and expertise to the table. As to my own journey, I've been deeply involved in the field of water management in buildings, particularly focusing on decarbonization through the integration of innovative technologies such as Thermodynamic Solar Panels. Water is and will always be the most precious recourse, so we need to implement more solutions in the entire water usage cycle which allow us to live in a more sustainable way. We need to be more efficient, more eco-friendly, and more cost conscious. I have realized that as women, we often bring a different perspective and more resilience to the forefront of these challenges. Our collective efforts are not only driving change but also inspiring future generations of women to pursue careers in green engineering and science. Together, let's continue to push boundaries and create a brighter, more sustainable future for generations to come. Here's to the power of collaboration and the undeniable force of women leading the way towards a better world.
