Despite progress, women are still underrepresented in tech fields, holding only 26.2% of full professorships and less than a quarter of self-employed roles in Science, Engineering, and ICT. This disparity is critical as tech markets grow rapidly in the EU.   HerTechVenture aims to change this by inspiring, recruiting, and retaining women in tech. Using a gender-based and intersectional approach, the project offers training and community support to break stereotypes and boost female confidence, innovation, and entrepreneurship in tech. I am going to be honest. Brace yourselves. 👀 A few people have asked me if #WomenInTech [unfiltered] is just for the ladies?💃🏽 Some people have asked me if it’s a bit radical?😮 I’ve been challenged on if this will just be a space for complaining?🙄 To all of these answers, I would say, whilst I am a co-organiser and not a Manchester Tech Festival representative… I know that this will be radical, I know that some people will use the space to complain and I know that we will be focusing on the ladies. 😀 But we need to get away from the idea that focus is exclusion. There is a problem around women in the tech scene. One of our industry's biggest challenges is to attract more women to choose a career in tech and IT, to succeed in this we need to get rid of the structural barriers that still exists. It's crucial to have confidence in your skills and talents, and to not be afraid to pursue your passions, even if it means stepping into male-dominated industries. Every person brings a unique perspective to the field, and all ideas are valuable and can make a significant impact. It's also incredibly important to surround yourself with supportive people who believe in you and your potential, and don't be afraid to seek out mentors who can offer guidance and support along the way." ⭐️ How can we make it easier for girls and women to enter the property and/or tech industry? ⭐️ "I strongly advocate for more open conversations with our youth about the practical aspects of various industries, including the tech space. Often, certain sectors can seem unapproachable due to perceived standards set by the working world.
