Digital technology - what’s its role in women’s health? What are the challenges for healthcare providers and policymakers? How can we make it work to help bridge the gender-based divide? A new WHO/Europe report shows that digital health technologies can improve women's health and promote equity. The benefits are primarily associated with improving access to healthcare services, enhancing maternal health, providing essential health information, and empowering women to have more autonomy. Join Monash Women's Health Alliance Chair, Prof. The Hon. Jill Hennessy GAICD, as she leads a diverse panel of women’s health experts featuring Kirsten Palmer, Nisha Khot, Preeya Alexander, Helena Teede, Allegra Schermuly and Taya Collyer, at the World Health Summit Regional Meeting on Monday, April 22nd. An intimate and thought-provoking discussion on Digital platforms as a women's health hack: Is technology helping women to participate, be seen, be believed and be counted, in their health care? Bertelsmann Stiftung’s Healthcare Program is proud and honored to have been invited to participate in this forward-looking stakeholder meeting. “We fully endorse the roadmap lined out in the meeting’s statement”, says program director Dr. Sebastian Schmidt-Kaehler. “2024 is going to be the digital health transformation year internationally. In Geneva, we were able to present the #TrustedHealthEcosystems project as a blueprint for a trustworthy, easy-to-navigate, interoperable digital health platform that works both at the national and international levels”, Sebastian explains. “At Bertelsmann Stiftung, we fully endorse the statement’s focus on equity and fairness. Digital transformation is here to stay and we are committed to use it as a powerful tool to advance health and well-being for all. Global governance, global fora and wide-ranging public-private partnerships are required to make sure digital transformations are geared to healthy futures for all, honoring digital determinants of health, overcoming digital divides, and build bridges into non-health sectors and wider society for maximum participation and inclusion.” The Geneva stakeholder meeting on March 27, 2024 had been convened by the Global Initiative on Digital Health (#GIDH), a WHO-Managed Network, and the Digital Transformations for Health Lab (DTH-Lab). to accelerate implementation of WHO’s Global Strategy on Digital Health 2020-2025 through focused global collaborations and country-level coordination. More high-level events and policy dialogues are scheduled throughout 2024 – stay tuned. #G20 #WHA #UHC #digitalgovernance #healthyfutures #genevastatement Aferdita Bytyqi Fondation Botnar World Health Organization World Health Summit Andrzej Rys Ran Balicer Simon Drees Nick Guldemond Bundesministerium für Gesundheit

Progress toward achieving universal health coverage has stalled. In 2021, more than half the world’s population—4.5 billion people—lacked full access to essential health services. The digital transformation of healthcare could help reverse this trend, but not without significant, sustained investment in gender-equitable foundations. Join me on 6 Nov, along with a panel of women leaders in the digital health sector, to discuss how we can ensure the rapid digitization of healthcare is gender equitable, and prevent it from widening health disparities between the digital haves and have-nots. PharmAccess is a founding member of the Digital Transformations for Health Lab consortium, created to implement recommendations of The Lancet and Financial Times Commission on #digitalgovernance of #healthyfutures. These include: 🚸 Actively involving young people in designing digital policies, as they will inherit our digitally transformed health systems. 🛜 Ensuring that everyone has access to connectivity to reduce the world’s deep digital divide. This is especially true for the African continent, where one-third of the earth’s under-15 population will live by 2030 and internet access for the poorest populations was almost non-existent (Unicef, 2020). This year, when countries gather at several landmark meetings, the DTH-Lab calls on governments to work towards equitable digital health futures. (Read the full #genevastatement: https://lnkd.in/daVjybsj.) “Appropriate data governance structures should be in place to enable data solidarity,” said Njide Ndili, Country Director of PharmAccess Nigeria. “This is also a focus of PharmAccess as we implement our innovations across health systems in Africa in partnership with ministries of health and private sector stakeholders.”
