Did you know that we have a right to a healthy environment (RTHE) under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act (CEPA)? This right must be upheld in decisions made under CEPA, but what does that really mean? The federal government has two years to answer this question by developing an implementation framework for the RTHE. As the first stage of the process, the federal government released a preliminary discussion document (https://lnkd.in/eFG4Dncm) on the content of the implementation framework and invited the public to provide feedback. Please see WHEN’s submission here (https://lnkd.in/eryuNudJ) which has been endorsed by Shake Up The Establishment, Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment (CAPE), Breast Cancer Action Quebec, and the Coalition for Environmental Rights. For a plain language summary of WHEN’s submission, please see our blog post here: https://lnkd.in/eX7spC6m We also encourage you to review Shake Up The Establishment's submission, as it speaks to the broader context surrounding the RTHE and provides important feedback gathered through their community engagement initiatives: https://lnkd.in/gCxNck3X
