Less than 1 percent of funding for recovery in #Ukraine goes to projects focusing on gender equality. Meanwhile, Ukrainian women are leading on all fronts amid growing security threats – from defending their country on the frontline, leading humanitarian efforts to driving the economy. Ukrainian women-led civil society organizations were among the first to respond to the humanitarian crisis. Working with more than 50 organizations through the Women's Peace & Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), UN Women and partners have supported over 100,000 women and girls in need. Last month, I met with Dr. Kateryna Levchenko, the Ukrainian Government Commissioner for Gender Equality Policy. I commended the Government of Ukraine for their strong commitment to #GenderEquality, including through the Ukraine Facility Action Plan and the Alliance for Gender-Responsive and Inclusive Recovery.
