Melinda French Gates will donate $150 million to nonprofits that aim to increase professional opportunities for women. https://lnkd.in/e3sGdbJz About a third of the money—$45 million, according to Axios—will be designated for women’s initiatives in the tech industry, and specifically artificial intelligence. Quantitative fields like tech and engineering have a reputation for especially poor track records of female representation, according to the U.S. National Science Foundation. 2024 wow, what a year! A big part of that journey has been my involvement with Women in Revenue, a community I’ve had the honor of volunteering with for the past 5 years—and this year, I joined the board! Being part of WIR has been one of the most rewarding experiences and I’ve seen firsthand how this free community of 8,000+ women empowers its members through mentorship, networking, and support, helping them overcome challenges and advance in their careers. I have been through this experience over and over again with so many of the incredible women and men in our community. Jill Melchionda, Debe Rapson, Michelle Ji-Yeun Kim, Lisa (Ramirez) Ames, Syed Hoda, Adam Taisch, Gill Hetz, Johanna Smith, Michelle Wegenstein, and Antonio Caridad are a few of the incredible women and men who have mentored me, been a shoulder to lean on during hard or frustrating times and I can call all of them friends, where we learn from one another and continue to grow and involve in our careers.
