Compared to funds in traditional philanthropy, feminist funds have different relationships with communities and move money differently. Women's or feminist funds, such as Canada's Equality Fund, are often set up by women who come from social movements, women who come from the communities they serve, and women who have proximity to the issues they’re working on." 💭 Did you know? Canadians dedicate 100+ hours of volunteer work each year, and of these Canadians, women (44%) are more likely to volunteer than men. Women are consistently contributing to the volunteer and #nonprofit sector, yet still find difficulty in attaining leadership positions - our community aims to change this and create a space for women to thrive and feel empowered to break down these barriers. #NationalVolunteerWeek #NVW2024 #EveryMomentMatters

However, many organizations embedding a gender lens in their work struggle with significant practical challenges. Based on our experience, we share four lessons that help foundation and nonprofit leaders approach challenges that can emerge when embedding a gender equity lens in their work. These lessons, though more relevant to formulating an intervention, ultimately have an impact on an organization’s overall strategy for improving outcomes for all. https://lnkd.in/dcMiyKwa #genderequity #socialimpact #socialchange #foundations #nonprofits
