From a young age, girls are taught that the sky has limits. From experiencing gender bias in school to being promoted more slowly than their male peers, women face the pervasive “glass ceiling” in many ways. Globally, women hold only 28.2% of management positions in the workplace. Of all CEOs of global Fortune 500 companies, 5.8% are female. Despite the progress made in recent decades, if the current pace of change continues, women’s share of leadership positions will reach only 30% by 2050. WOMEN IN TECH ® Global, with the support of UN Women, launched a global campaign to raise awareness of the persistent existence of invisible yet pervasive barriers — often referred to as the “glass ceiling” — that girls and women face across various sectors, including STEM.

Hearing speakers like Jordi Martorell represent the male perspective in support of inclusive innovation was inspiring. Diversity isn’t just a box to tick; it’s what will drive our industry forward. 🌍💪 Education and inclusion are key. It’s about nurturing talent, not focusing on gender. I hope that someday, these conversations won’t be necessary because everyone will have a seat at the table by default. 🚀 Reflecting on an Incredible event for Women in Tech 🚀 Last week was a whirlwind of inspiration, learning, and fun at the Women in Tech. As someone who's often found myself in the majority in the tech world, being surrounded by such amazing women and allies was nothing short of empowering. This experience really opened my eyes to the flip side of the coin for women in tech. It made me pause and consider how it must feel to be a minority, constantly navigating spaces where you're vastly outnumbered. It was a moment of empathy that drove home the challenges that women often face in male-dominated industries like tech. Walking around, I couldn't help but put myself in their shoes, imagining what it would be like to be one of the few men in a sea of women at every conference. It was a stark realization of the uphill battle that many women face, not just in tech, but in countless other fields as well. One of the highlights for me was getting the chance to try out EY exoskeleton. It was more than just a piece of technology; it was a glimpse into the future, a symbol of innovation, and a testament to how far we've come in merging technology with humanity. But beyond the gadgets and the cutting-edge tech, what truly resonated with me were the stories. Stories of resilience, of breaking barriers, of pushing boundaries. It reminded me that behind every breakthrough innovation, there's a human story waiting to be told. This event served as a powerful reminder of why representation matters. It's about more than just numbers; it's about creating a culture where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. So here's to the women who are paving the way, to the allies who are standing beside them, and to the future where diversity isn't just celebrated—it's the norm. The other day, I had the pleasure of attending a highly informative Tech Leader's session hosted by Microsoft and Altron, alongside my technology industry peers. I looked around the room - the female representation was 1%. I couldn't help but think about HOW DO WE GIVE MORE WOMEN WINGS IN TECH TO FLY!!!As the world becomes more digitally connected, the role of women in technology is more important than ever. Women bring diverse perspectives, creativity, and innovation to the tech landscape, driving solutions that impact industries and communities. Yet, we are only scratching the surface of what’s possible when women fully harness the power of technology. Now, more than ever, it’s time for women to step into technology roles, not just as contributors but as leaders. That's a wrap for Davos 2025! With 7 incredible WOMEN IN TECH ® Global delegates representing our global mission, we made a powerful impact at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 🌟 We co-hosted an accredited panel session with Microsoft and NTT at the Ice Village on Gender Equality in STEM for sustainable digital societies and we celebrated two major milestones: the launch of the WOMEN IN TECH ® Global Council and the announcement of the Osaka Protocol. Under the theme "Collaboration for the Intelligent Age," our team engaged with global leaders converging to address critical challenges in technology, economic growth, and gender equity. The launch of our Global Council was a landmark moment, uniting influential voices committed to advancing gender parity in the digital ecosystem. Discussions ranged from geopolitical issues to our crucial focus on closing the digital gender gap. With women representing only 28% of tech leadership roles and facing significant technological access barriers, our mission is more urgent than ever. Our message resonated strongly: Where progress rolls back, we roll forward. The Osaka Protocol, announced at the forum, embodies our commitment to systematic change, addressing key barriers women face in technology and entrepreneurship. Looking ahead, we're excited for the 4th annual WOMEN IN TECH® Global Summit, scheduled for April 23-25, 2025, in Osaka, Japan, as part of the World Expo 2025.
