A long road for gender parity at the Olympic Games. The story of a 30-century-old struggle, with its battles, victories and heroines. 🔥 Women's path to parity at the Olympic Games is a marathon. Banned from the arenas and grandstands in Antiquity, absent from the first Games of the modern era in 1896, the first female participants numbered just 22 at the 1900 Paris Games, barely allowed to compete in a few events. 🌟THEY PAVED THE WAY🌟 Powerful, influential, supportive, passionate, ambitious. These women are the fighters of their time. Each of their conquests has advanced the world of sport, and the world at large, by giving women the right to exist, to be visible, to raise standards, to win. The right to victory for women is their legacy, and even today we say thank you to them.

It is bizarre to talk about this Olympics being the first “gender-equal” when Muslim female athletes from the host country were disqualified if they observed hijab.
